Re: 76ers Get Their Shooter
I don't disagree. Right now, it's more of a wish rather than anything based on something he's shown. He showed flashes in certain games when he was given the chance to run the point, but was nowhere near consistent enough to be able to say that he can do it on regular basis. There is no question in my mind that no matter how much he works on his game, Lou will never be a classic Steve Nash, Jason Kidd type point guard. The question however is, can he be good enough at the point to be a Maurice Williams type PG?
Right now, it doesn't look like it. But we forget that this is a kid who came straight out of high school as a second round pick. He is merely 22 years old! Can he develop his shot and his ballhandling to the point where he can be an efficient offensive player who shoots 43% to 48% from the field and who gets 5 assists versus no more than 2.5 turnovers. It's not asking for the pie in the sky exactly. He'd also have to stop running to every sceen being set on defense and have enough energy to play on both ends of the floor.
I still think that he has the potential to be that kind of a PG, which is all we would need if Iggy continued to be a creator and got his turnovers under control a bit, and Brand was healthy and could command double teams in the post.
