I just saw this. Must have something to do with the OJ scandal.
Gotta assume so. Wonder if it was a "resign, or get fired" situation. It's apparent the transgressions alleged are true, and maybe USC's thinking if they clean house before any penalties are doled out the NCAA'll be more lenient.
Supposedly Mike Garrett is going after Rick Majerus, and Reggie Theus, and he is going to also contact Bobby Knight. USC already lost commits from Noel Johnson and Solomon Hill. Having a legendary coach like Bob Knight can definitely help bring this program out of the hole it just dug itself in.
O.J. Mayo Recruiting did Zero for the program this pisses me off because when it came down to it Nick Young and Gabe Pruitt did more for USC than O.J. Mayo they lead them to a Sweet 16 where Taj Gibson OWNED Tyler Hansbrough. It makes me wish that the NBA would let these guys jump from High School.
Now the question is whether USC can hold onto any of its 2009 recruits. Local prospect Derrick Williams expressed doubt about attending USC to the Pasadena Star-News prior to Floyd's resignation. And it is difficult to see New York native and four-star prospect Lamont Jones traveling across the country to play for a program in such disarray.
