I'd say Spain and the usual suspects, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Holland, Italy.

It's going to be the best ever showing by the Yanks. Led by Clint "Deuce" (Don't tread on me) Dempsey

we will finally see expectation reached (on the international stage) from Beasley and Donovan

(I wish City had kept Beasley. Beasley and Sweep on the wings would have been t*ts)

and of course, the world's finest keepers are from the new country

My pick to win is England or Argentina.

Brazil didn't win last time, odds are they are due, plus it is in the Southern Hemisphere which means they won't be freaked out when the toilets flush and the water goes down backwards.

Here is my little scandal prediction (if the chips fall into place):

If South Africa advances, watch for their opponents in the elimination round to get food poisoning.

When SA hosted the rugby World Cup back in 1995 they played New Zealand and a bunch of NZ players came down with food poisoning the day before the final and weren't at 100%.

I see history repeating itself as corrupt countries can't help themselves (see Korea, 1988 Roy Jones Jr. gold medal loss, and 2002 Korea vs Spain).

Brazil and England is my favorites. Brazil is obvious while England have the best manager in Fabio Capello. This guy works magic every single time he coaches a team.

Spain always choke, they always have great talents that don't perform.

Argentina won't succeed under Maradona. This guy is a decent manager but isn't of the level of other managers. He's like the Mike Brown of soccer world, only worse.

Just out of curiosity..why don't you have France listed?

I like Spain for the Cup although I do not follow soccer anymore so I wouldn't have much of a clue..

France had have a great generation of talent (Zidane, Henry, Vieira, Makelele, Trezeguet..) but right now beside Ribéry we have nobody on that team who can perform at a high level stage like the world cup.

In 10 years maybe

The golden generation is done and the next generation is not quite there yet (with the exceptions of Ribery and Patrice Evra who are already world class).

Their coach is terrible and the players have stopped listening to him. France were one of the worst teams in all of Euro 2008 yet somehow Domenech managed to keep his job.

He should have been fired after that tournament but he wasn't. Then things became even worse when Sebastian Frey (one of the best keepers in the Serie A) retired from international football at the age of 28!

The guy is living off the 2006 World Cup when everyone else in the world knows that the real coach of that side was Zinedine Zidane.

1. Spain
2. Argentina
3. Brazil
4. Germany
5. Holland-South Africa might be like home territory for them almost
6. Ivory Coast-why not, who knows how the first world cup on african soil will go down, Elephants are the best African team
7. Italy
8. England-you dont get anywhere in the world cup if you dont know how to dive and cheat well, as Germany, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Uruguay, notice that every single nation that has won the world cup also happen to be the top in the world at cheating as well.

Hasn't Spain diminished a little bit of the choking aspect by winning the last Euros?

Holland and Tinidad/Tobago!

I've rooted for them since I started watching soccer. (Edgar Davids was my first favorite soccer player.)
