Ariza is better, because he has an all around more complete game - and better defense!
Devean George was also known for his athleticism when he was on the Lakers, he had amazing hops and an eerie resemblance to dr. dre, lol. But, now that Ariza's show is much improved this year, his overall game is much better. Let's not forget why we let George go, because there were some deficiencies in his game, most notably his defense, and especially his attitude and work ethic.
Three years ago, George was much better although Trevor
was an excellent defensive player too.
Now, Trevor has passed him easily. I said a year or more ago
that when Trevor starts hitting outside shots, he will be the
starter..... Well, his shooting was pretty decent this year
and especially in the playoffs!!! I'd shake his hand and thank
him profoundly for his work this year!!!
George was a good spot up shooter but Ariza has the all-round game, the defense, the lengthy and knows how to play the passing lanes. His jump shot has been a huge surprise this year...just hope he continues to develop.
Devean was actually a really good on ball defender.
Prolly better than ariza, better shooter.
But his confidence was weak. The guy wasnt consistent.
Game was very limited.
Ariza on the otherhand, is improving by the day! haha,
Worked on his jumper and who knows? might be a damn good shooter one day
Not just confidence, but also attitude. Which lead to him not hustling back, or consistently playing good D, which left him sitting on the bench more and more... I heard some interviews with Kurt Rambis talking about George - and why he left, and I got the feeling the coaching staff were less than pleased/impressed with him before his exit.
