Default Need help buying a new computer

Okay, my dad needs help buying a new computer.

He wants a whole new system (computer/moniter/mouse/keyboard). He needs one with atleast 3+gb RAM and one that can play dvd's. He wants to spend $800-850.

Woa, slow down. You don't get a Bentley for the price of a Toyota.

You guys are stupid, computers are really affordable right now. I would go with a AMD x4 with 4GB ram. Let me fetch you a package.

Do you know how to assemble computers?

For $850 you can buy a beast of a machine. Just buy all the parts seperately and put it together yourself. Trust me, it isn't hard.

He is getting it for his dad, I doubt his dad needs anything more than a basic model. It is most likely going to be used for web purposes and watching movies. Does'nt need to exert too much by building one, when you can just go to walmart or best-buy and pick up one to meet those basic demands

A lot? Absolutely, false. Take a look at the mobo and processor you rec'd in this thread. The amd 9500 doesn't fit the needs of the op. Why are you looking at quad core based machines? Actually, the "lowest-grade" quad if you will. The mobo is extremely limited along with the BIOS (obviously, you've never owned a gateway)

The machine you suggested is very poor value.

This is the best answer. Buy a cheap tool kit, strap a spoon(or any metal object) to your wrist, and you're ready to go.

Why tho, when he jsut needs a basic setup for his dad, why would he build a new system when he could for less money buy a bundle and save time. The most his dad is going to do is email, watch some movies and spank it to anorexicchickswithbigtits.com
