Got to watch the game today. I finally understand the Jrue Holiday hate...it's ISH, and people want him to fail. ISHers look at his college stats and hate that he was ranked so high and pick on him for ever mistake. Example: Jrue airballs a three pointer and posters come out with "OMG Jrue sucks so bad I'm glad the Knicks didn't pick him up". Later on Terrence Williams airballs a layup down the middle of the lane and all is quiet. It's ironic the main guy bashing Jrue is a Nets fan with a T-Will avy while T-Will's first game he went 1-8 from the field and 2nd game he went 3-11. Nothing was said of him. So if you're just peaking into those threads, don't put too much faith in what you see. Watching the game today he did exactly what I expected him to do.
- Played some sticky defense. Guy is relentless on defense. Even when the other team put the ball in the post he's bouncing in perfect position between the ball and his man. Some get 2 deflections on fast breaks alone to break up the play and dive on the floor for a loose ball, and came up with it. Guy is going to be a great defender. (He covered Eric Maynor who shot 2-9 with 2 turnovers in 26 minutes).
- Hard to tell about his PG duties. The first quarter consisted of him bringing the ball up the floor and handing it off to Chris Douglas-Roberts then running off the ball, same thing Derrick Rose did with CDR at Memphis. You also saw a lot of Terrence Williams running the point-forward, obviously the Nets are interested in his abilities to do so. Jrue did have a pretty bounce pass off of a pick n' roll with Speights for the one handed jam though. I liked.
- Jumper still needs work as we know. Saw him miss 2 jump shots, 1 of them an airball three pointer. Nothing we didn't already know. But hey, he did make a three pointer this game. Guess I'll give him a little bit of credit for it. Not much.
Speights struggled today. 8 points (3-12) with 4 rebounds in 27 minutes. He was swatting shots all over though. Had 5 blocked shots.
Dionte Christmas had 7 points (3-8 including a 3-pointer) in 22 minutes off the bench. Also 3 rebounds and a steal.
Also remember:
A guy can have 0 points all summer league and be an all-star, or average 30 a game and be a nobody. It's just summer league. Derrick Rose struggled in this stuff last year and Jerryd Bayless lit it up over 29 ppg (29.8 to be exact). One guy was ROY and the other couldn't get off the bench.

In an unrelated development, Sixers president/general manager Ed Stefanski has extended a training camp invitation to Dionte Christmas, the former Temple star who was not selected in the draft.
