Default Wizards/Wolves Trade

The Washington Wizards have acquired Minnesota Timberwolves guards Randy Foye(notes) and Mike Miller(notes) for Etan Thomas(notes), Oleksiy Pecherov(notes) and Darius Songalia and the fifth pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, a league executive with knowledge of the deal told Yahoo! Sports

PG: Arenas
SG: Miller
SF: Butler
PF: Jamison
C: Haywood

Bench: Foye, Dixon, Stevenson, Blatche, Crittenton, Young.

We are really guard heavy now but with the moves we've been making, I'm sure management will realize this and try to make another deal (Amare?)

Do both of these players have expiring contracts? How much cap space does this open up for us? Do we go after a big in FA?

I'm pretty sure they don't. This was a trade designed for us to get a SG we really needed and we got that in Foye and Miller...they are not players designed to allow us to have cap space because we gave away the 5th pick.

I think we should go hard after Amare...like I said, we have a lot of guards. Management should and hopefully will look into this.

I think that an Amare deal is still doable, at least if the Suns don't go through with the Warriors deal. Both Miller and Foye are expirers, so we could conceivably offer them in combination with Blatche or Jamison and future picks. No clue how we'd re-sign him, but it's worth at least considering.
