I'm kinda mad that Artest is leaving, but I like that we were able to get him right away. This is his time to make himself a star. Yao is out, T-mac is out, so he was probably thinking to himself, "I can go to Houston and start, and make my name more known." Hopefully he can do something amazing for us.

I LOVE THE MOVE... Ariza is the next great wing defender... when you talk about battier, artest, prince.. Ariza is next if he's not already there. He gets to learn under battier. He is longer, more athletic, and has a better offensive game than battier already. If he gets to be as good as battier defensively, we got him for the next 5 years? Houston's defense will continue to be stellar. Houston will not be in a full blown rebuilding mode... we will have championship contender pieces like Ariza on the team as we try "refurbish" the rockets.

Ariza doesn't filll the current need but he is a piece for the future. there is a reason he was given a 5 year deal. houston isn't in a position to be a contender this upcoming season but when they do, Ariza is going to be a vital piece of that team.

I think they should change it to a S&T Artest for Ariza cause thats pretty much what it is. Then both teams still have their MLE and can get someone else. (As if the Lakers dont have enough alrdy)

so from houston fans perspective, what is your opinion on whether ariza->artest is a + or - for your team?
i personally think HOU will be stronger with artest, atleast this coming up season. hopefully ariza can be as contributitive to hou as he was for the lal though.

Artest is currently the better player of the two. defensively artest is the veteran, he knows how to play defense and he has been one of the best for years. Offensively, Artest is better at creating his own shots but at the same time he is quite a bit of a chucker and he shoot a low fg percentage.
Ariza has quite an upside because he is younger, longer, and athletic. He will develop into a top defender, he's already a good wing defender. he has a pretty good offense game, not necessarily creating his own shots but playing his role well in the offense.
Houston needed Artest more this season because Yao is out but Ariza is the better choice for the future. Artest alone wouldn't have gotten houston deep in the playoffs but Ariza can be a vital piece in a championship team as he proved in the playoffs.
