I remember like 4 or 5 years back everyone was saying that Sheed was the best player in the league. Is that some sort of inside joke or what?

He was never the best PF in the league but he was in the discussion. He's no Tim Duncan or KG, but after that in his prime he was right in the mix. He was a bit of a disappointment actually because coming out of college he was thought to have the potential to be one of the best PF's of all time with the way he could shoot and he was listed at 7' for a long time though now he is listed at 6'11" but nonetheless his length made it tough for people to block his shot and also made him a tough person to shoot over.

He was always a good defender and I think that is where Boston benefits the most, because he can gaurd either Lewis or Howard. It was him and Chauncey that always made the Detroit/Orlando match up an easy one for Detroit. The Celtics have a PG so I can't see Orlando giving them much of a problem as PP can D up Carter if he has to, since who even knows who Orlando's SF would be.

Yea I can see Sheed making an impact....

think matchup problems.. The backup PF is going to have to matchup with him at times if hes coming off the bench.. and its not like starting PFs like to chase him out to the 3point line either.

It's hard to say whether he comes off the bench or he starts. I would actually think they may bring Perkins in off the bench. Either way that a lot of depth on the front line.

Cavs had a very weak frontcourt, hense why the Lakers destroyed them so badly in both meetings.

Bringing Perkins off the bench would be a huge mistake. Perkins is their clog in the middle and a guy who will do all the dirty work. What Perkins does will be more important than what Sheed will provide.

Sheed's a better defender than Perkins. Who do you think Dwight Howard would rather face, Sheed or Perkins? Perkins without a doubt.

Incorrect. Their front line wasn't quick on the perimeter, hence why teams like LA and Orlando were bad match ups for Cleveland. That doesn't mean they had a weak front line. Ilgauskas put up pretty good numbers. Varejao is not weak. Wallace isn't the same person but not weak, he can still D up and grab some boards. What do they all have in common though.... they aren't perimeter defenders. That's why PF's like LO and Rashard Lewis give them problems.

Rasheed is a good perimeter defender. He will help against match ups like that, which is something the Celtics didn't have before.

Wasn't just on the perimeter it was on the low block. And V was a decent defender but wasn't strong enough to deal with whoever he guarded. He was abit soft..Z is just too damn slow. The Cavs main weakness all year was their frontcourt...it's why they were never taken seriously at all. Their frontcourt was garbage...it was their wing players that made them win games. There is a reason why every big man they seemed to face had a big game. The fact Sheed struggled against them quite shocking.

Sheed is a better post defender than on the perimeter, he struggled with the pick and rolls and isn't quick enough anymore. His post defense isn't as good as before but is still one of his main quailties.

Did you watch the eastern conference semi-finals? Perkins gave Dwight fits and really limited him. Sheed was a better defender than Perkins but now? I would take Perkins over Sheed in that area...Perkins is a warrior inside and plays very good post defense. He is tougher and stronger than Sheed and doesn't let you get post position very easily at all. Sheed is just lazy in that reguard.

aye Perkins is a beast for the Celtics. He rebounds, blocks and D's up the other teams starting C. If only Bynum would play like that..

If he stays healthly, he will.
