Blazersí Mills breaks foot, to miss NBA Summer League
Blazers second-round pick Patty Mills suffered a broken right foot in practice Thursday, knocking the point guard out of the NBA Summer League. The injury occurred at the teamís practice facility in Portland, as the Blazers were preparing their squad before heading to Las Vegas. The Blazersí medical staff is evaluating treatment options for Mills. The early feeling is the rookie should be ready for training camp in October.
Thursday was the first day of practice and Mills was hurt in the second of two sessions. The Blazers arenít scheduled to arrive in Vegas until Sunday and their first game is Monday against Toronto.
Mills was chosen 55th overall in the Draft heavy with point guards. Sixteen playmakers were taken before Portland snagged the sophomore out of St. Maryís late in the second round. Mills, 20, starred on Australiaís Olympic team last summer.
