All I do for the predraft is exclude players I want no part of or will be drafted wayyy too early. Usually I'm left with 70-80 draftable players and the entire process is simple.
Your statements of "does nothing to me" and "nowhere close to the real thing" are off. There are many advantages to running mocks early or late. Take what you can to polish your game. Step up or step out. Head start.

-intelligent fantasy discussion. As you know in the main forum, Having a discussion with a homer is the worst type of conversation. Fantasy players put more stock in players nightly and/or cumulative production in addition to their eyeball tests. Usually producing a legit back and forth. Maybe you will come out believing something you originally did not.
-12 different povs. Dissect each strategy.
-Position values. Where will centers be taken.
-Dwight Howard draft strategy
-etc, etc, etc...
Join. Big Kings Fan. It will be great exercise. You can make your picks by posting gifs of your player.
Same goes to you Big Stick. I believe you can be assets to the mock.
