Just talked to a source close to the team who stressed that the team is no more in on AI than they are on many of the other available swingmen. The Clippers have not ruled it out, but the source said the negotiations were not serious at this point in time.
Well I guess he would be a decent signing if he came relatively cheap for 1 year and came off the bench. There are a lot of AI fans out there, so who knows maybe he will help put a few people in the seats, and sell a few jerseys. Could work out.
I think it wouldn't work out good for you guys. You guys have Gordon who is already kinda small for his spot. Good but small. So to have AI to back him up doesn't make much sense since having a longer more defensive minded guy would really change the looks of things more. AI won't play PG so he won't be taking PT from Davis.
What's weird to me is they said they would only sign him if he came off the bench. He wouldn't do it in Detroit. I don't know how he will like it anywhere. He might say one thing to a camera, especially while he doesn't have a job, but that doesn't mean it's the truth.
He doesn't play defense and he needs the ball all the time to be effective. If he would take a role of about 15-20 minutes a game as a spark off the bench with a 2nd unit he'd be fine. The problem is he isn't going to do that so he's more of a cancer than anything. I'm not sure if I'd go to any Clippers games next year if he was on the team. I don't like seeing that kind of play. I guess it depends on where the seats are and how cheap I get the tickets
I love how everyone thinks the guy has fallen off the map. Last season was a wierd season for AI. The yearbefore they got beat by the lakers but won 50 games. Guy put up like 27 pts a game and was STILL a beast..
Anywhere near the midlevel is a deal!!
Dont sleep on AI. He is that Super STAR power that you clippers guys have never had. If he does come, expect him to be ON TOP of his game. In shape and ready to go. He will be a star again, book it.
