never seen a funnelweb never seen a shark (but i don't go to the beach much).

the only thing i have seen is a red back spider.

reading that site it says "Red-backs are extremely versatile, preferring building sites and areas of human habitation." all those other animals you would have to go out of your way to find.

NZ born & raised but living in Oz.

I love NZ & visit every couple years but living in south east QLD is just too good to go back.

I will say that I grew up in an environment surrounded by alcohol/drug abuse & gangs. Not exactly the place you'd want to be moving to.

Have you looked at something like the Gold Coast in QLD?

i've seen a funnel web spider, probably one of the worst things i've seen almost had a heart attack, though i use to go to the beach often though their have been heaps of shark attacks in the past year i've kinda avoided the beach... freaks me out always thinking about sharks when im in the water.

Though Australia is a great damn place besides some of the worlds dangerous animals....

im more worried about the saltwater crocs. at least with great whites your ok if you dont go in too deep. the crocs dont care if your in the water or on the beach.

i saw this one show on discover where a group of people were on a boat, one lady decided to jump in the water and swim for shore which was nearby. halfway there, a croc appeared behind her, all her friends could do was scream and yell and ultimately just watch as the croc dragged her under and death roll her while the lady was screaming.

im tellin ya, crocs scare the **** outta me

Was scared ****less the whole time up there.

Cocs appearing in pools and ****. Even getting bitten by a mosquito could have been deadly.

Well it depends on where you go, i mean WA has plenty of red back spiders but no funnel webs from what i know. As for the snakes you wont find any in residential areas but you might hear em if you go bush walking but thats a recreational activity for a minority...

Great weather and beaches over here though and if you get eaten by a shark well its just not your day

Edit: As for New Zealand i don't know too much about it besides the fact that there's a lot of sheep there and colder weather...

Lol you guys really think Spiders, Sharks and Crocs are a reason not to go to Australia. You only get bitten by a shark usually if you're a surfer that goes way past where everyone is swimming. There's a better chance that you die while driving to the beach than when you're in the water.

Snakes aren't fun obviously, but that's easy to avoid. Just don't go camping and keep away from the bush. I hiked around the Australian Wilderness for over a week and only had the risk of being bitten once. Lol.

Haha, this is completely wrong.

I spend nearly 3 months of every year in Brisbane/Gold Coast, Australia, while the rest is spent in Florida.

Brisbane and Gold Coast have the best beaches in Australia, and have a similar type lifestyle to that of Florida (another reason why I choose to go there). The beaches are wonderful and there are hardly any shark problems if you choose to stick to the main beaches, since they all have mesh netting.
