Re: Would Kobe Bryant get less than 41 wins with Hornets?
I like how everybody bring up the 04-05 season
The season where Kobe only played 66 games and was playing injured all year due to plantar facisis...Coach Rudy quit mid-way through the season...Odom separated his shoulder and missed a bunch of games...Stupid

Here come the delusional Kobe fanboys
Kobe played 66 games? Really?
Lakers Record in Games Kobe played: 28-38
Even win both Odom&Kobe played, they were still not good enough for playoffs.
Re: Would Kobe Bryant get less than 41 wins with Hornets?
Yeah, he played 66 games that year.He was injured all year too, like I said. Before he went down with the ankle injury and the horrific 2-19 finish the Lakers were firmly planted in the 6th seed in the West. But none of this matters. We're not discussing putting a Kobe at less then full strength struggling with plantar facisis on the Hornets. We're discussing what a fully healthy Prime Kobe could do. And seeing what a healthy Bryant did with the terrible supporting casts he had in 05-06/06-07(45 and 42 wins respectively), it's quite reasonable to assume he could increase that win total by 10+ with a significantly better supporting cast.

Players play through injuries all the time and succeed. If he is healthy enough to play, it's good. I don't understand why only when the player doesn't succeed the injury is brought up, but more often than not, players playing through injuries succeed. Meaning, that it really isn't the injury that causes the problems.
You could make a case Kobe wasn't 100% healthy during those years, didn't he have a finger problem or something, or what about returning from the knee surgery. But since he didn't fail, the injury isn't brought up, but if he had, "oh he was injured".
Weak excuse. Injuries are part of the game and players play through them. If he he is healthy enough to play, then thats what is looked at.

61 wins. Enough said. Like I said, Payton as your franchise cornerstone, put a subpar cast around him, and you will contend.
Put absolute scrubs around him (T-Mac's 20 win magic team level), and you will still have a decent team, that can make playoffs, and you won't have a losing season. (Wish I could say the same with Kobe, but I can't)
Please.
Baker was a great player averaging 19/8.
A good role player in Hersey Hawkins was their 4th best player, not Ellis. And Ellis had a decent year also. Schrempf was an excellent all round player.
Then they had about 4 or 5 decent role players supporting them in Kersey, Perkins, Greg Anthony amongst others.
That was a very good mature team. Plus their 61 wins was good for 3rd in the west and a second round exit 4-1 to the lakers.
So I am not sure what your post proves.

Hawkins was good? He was solid maybe a few years back, but he averaged 10.5ppg/44% that season. Nothing special at all. I mean, we are going to start calling 10ppg players good too now? Okay...And every team has "role players", Perkins 36, Kersey 37, and Greg? Yeah 5ppg backup PG wow. Perkins was garbage, Kersey played 37 games and was 37. I mean seriously people haven't mentioned players on the Hornets WAY better than these guys, and you have already mentioned them for Seattle.
Detlef was old and washed up. He was 35, Ellis was 37. This was just an old team with Payton/Baker period.
And Baker was as good as West as I already said. Prior to GP, Baker hadn't seen the playoffs.
I guess I can see where the confuse arrised, these players were good earlier, but at this time, they were garbage. I'll forgive you. But the point is, Payton's cast in 98 was worse than the Hornets without CP3.
Re: Would Kobe Bryant get less than 41 wins with Hornets?
I said Hawkins was a good role player. A better player than Ellis at the time, taking into account more than a ppg average. At that stage he was obviously on the slide, but he played his role very well that year.
My point is that the 98 Sonic's were a better TEAM than the Hornets. The talent level is arguable, but they had good veterans playing TOGETHER well in the regular season, led by a top ten PG.
The Hornets have a mish mash of average players that have achieved nothing (besides Paul/West and Peja is injury prone and ineffective). They are not the calibre of basketball player of those experienced Sonic players. Sure they may have more TALENT but that does not make them better basketball players.

So "Everyone" except the PG himself, Kobe and West? funny stuff.
Re: Would Kobe Bryant get less than 41 wins with Hornets?
I dont think people really understand just how god awful his team was back in those days.....it was like the Dark Ages for Los Angeles fans....we had to rely on KWAME BROWN. Kwame Brown.
