I respect that but I think its a generational thing.

There are STILL a large group of people(mainly old) who believe Michael Jackson is not even comparable to James Brown as an artist, ridiculous huh? Jackson IMO is a better singer, and a better dancer than James Brown.

no matter who is making chris browns music (and woman beating aside) he will never have an album like thriller. it's virtually impossible.

chris brown is only doing what mike did before him, so he is never going to be him.

chris brown is to michael jackson as penny hardaway is to michael jordan.

had potential, yes. blew it , yes (although penny never actually did anything immoral).

They (JB and Mike) are two totally different artist. Mike wasn't tryin' to be JB but Chris is tryin' to be Mike, see the difference.

Mike was doin' his little JB impressions for about 2 or three years (mostly before they even got to Motown and really didn't have a catalog.) CB is still doin' Mike. Check out his videos and he even does a MJ segment in his show.

No way, Chris Brown doesn't have a fraction of the talent that Michael Jackson had. Chris Brown is an overrated dancer and a half decent singer. His music has no staying power. If Rock With You was released today it would still be a hit. When was the last time you heard anything from Chris Brown's first album?

Where else can Chris Brown go with his music that Michael didnt go as an artist, what type of sound can he even go for?

I've already gone on record as saying Michael Jackson is the greatest music artist of All Time, seriously MJ took music not just a genre to a level that is impossible to reach for any solo artist to ever reach.

But eventually a challenger will appear, just like Kobe is to Jordan amongst this generation. I think Chris Brown will be that guy, hes going to have to live with comparisons for his entire career, he can either accept it or attempt to distance himself from it like JT and Usher have began to do.

Chris is only compared to MJ because that's who he wanted to be like. He should have been his own man or stayed a rapper. No one told him to sing and dance.

He could be getting his Brian McKnight on or something.

When you sing and dance, have 20 BG dancers and release a few mid-tempo and uptempo numbers, you're gonna be compared to "The King."

We'll see with his next release who he want to be known as ...

Chris Brown's music is watered down garbage. And Justin Timberlake and Usher compared to Michael Jackson?

I'm not even a pop music fan, but I like and respect Michael Jackson(as an artist). Brown, Timberlake and Usher? Nope, just generic overproduced pop music to me.

Rock With You would not be a Hit in 2009, this is an entirely different Era for music. Thats like claiming Johnny B. Goode would be a hit in 2009.

Im not going to sit here and claim Chris Brown will ever be the artist Michael Jackson was, but seriously he should other than death or prison become that type of artist for this generation.

His music or career will not be for people like you & me to judge or enjoy, its gong to be our younger siblings and/or children who experience it.

Chirs Brown has moves, but thats about it. There are not artists who can both be on top when they dance and when they sing. MJ had an incredible voice along with his legendary dance moves. MJ can hit notes than Chris couldnt even dream of.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to sing & dance, I'd be singing & dancing too if I were only able to sing & dance. If he sang, and then rapped he'd start getting comparisons to Bobby Brown. Maybe im not a creative mind, but seriously in terms of the R&B/Pop genre there isnt a road that hasnt been traveled until you start going off into some weird experimental sounds.

He'll be known as Chris Brown, us people with music knowledge beforehand can see any artist and put them in the same lane as any artist before them. But those who dont know will view Chris Brown as their Michael Jackson, you get my point.

Was he the closest thing to MJ post-MJ success? Usher beats him IMO
Will he be the next MJ? I don't see a possibility. Michael Jackson's Thriller album wasn't just a regular pop album, it helped define the sound of the 80s; it was so rare because you could find pop, soul, R&B, disco, even rock all in one album, something I cannot imagine Chris Brown doing. That crossover of genres requires pure, pure musical genius and CB I don't think can achieve that.

Who knows, though.
