It sure looks that way, especially with his cameo appearance on the Entourage TV series at 9:30 Sunday night.
"I definitely like that show. Basically, it's a very short scene filmed in my agent's office," said the Island-raised hoopster, who shot his scene in Los Angeles in the spring.
On his Facebook site, Nash, 35, confessed that since he had "never acted with real actors on TV," he had the butterflies, a condition Entourage star Kevin Connolly tried to alleviate.
" 'Ah, we'll walk you through it,' he said nonchalantly, as though I'd survive this possibly life-and-death situation," Nash joked. The Phoenix Suns point guard joins a who's who of celebrities who have guested on the HBO Emmy-winning series. They include from the movie world James Cameron, Paul Haggis and Zac Efron, Olympic champ Michael Phelps and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Will the NBA superstar's acting game be as dazzling as his action on the court? The Steve Nash Foundation, his charity devoted to fulfilling the health, personal development and educational needs of under-served children, is inviting you to make that call for yourself. Fans who submit show reviews by midnight Sunday to foundation@stevenash.org can win a limited edition Nash-designed We Are One Team T-shirt. An online donation of $100 or more gives you a chance to win an Entourage poster autographed by the cast.
Entourage is just part of the philanthropic two-time NBA MVP's recent foray into showbiz.
Nash runs a production company, Meathawk, with his filmmaker cousin Ezra Holland. His work includes Training Day, a Nike commercial, and Nike Trash Talk, a Six Million Dollar Man spoof.
His dream project, now in production, is a documentary on his idol Terry Fox. "I'm really excited about it," Nash said. "It's such a very important project to me." It's one of 30 hour-long films being made by notables such as Spike Lee, Peter Berg and Barbara Kopple for ESPN's 30/30 series. It's slated to air next year in celebration of the American cable sports network's 30th anniversary.
"Half of principal photography is done," Nash said. "We've got a ways to go yet, also on the technical side with things such as sound. And then there will be post-production." The droll playmaker has also gamely mocked himself in a faux-trailer for Stepbrothers with NBA star Baron Davis; and as "special correspondent" for CBS's Late Show With David Letterman during Game 3 of the NBA Final in Orlando.
Fans will get another chance to see Nash's off-court side on Aug. 23 when he appears on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and tries to answer a question worth $50,000 for his foundation.
I can't wait for the Terry Fox film, he was one of the greatest athletes of all time (he ran a freaking marathon [42 km] every day on one leg) and his drive and commitment to his cause continues to inspire a nation decades after his death.
