Certain guys like that....Joe Smith, Kurt Thomas, Grant Hill, Matt Barnes....everyone's thrilled to sign these guys, yet they always seem to take little money....baffles me......

They love the game. You can put Tim Duncan in that category as well. He turned down a $40 mill extension so the Spurs could sign other players.

A Zaza/Horford/Josh Smith/Joe Smith/Marvin Williams frontcourt can do major work. Add the nice back court to the mix and the Hawks have a nice balance in the team.

i agree. especially at the league minimum. he could be the backup PF until Powe gets healthy.

Oh well though. I wish the best (excluding a championship ) for him.

Joe Smith SHOULD be hesitant to sign big contracts after that whole debacle... think about about it...

Joe Smith got his fair market value.

He is an older veteran and he already got his big contract.

His body could break down at any point. No point for any team, especially in this environment, on giving him a huge contract when he could break down or they need to develop a younger player.

He has maybe a couple good years left, and then he can go into the front office or coaching. He seems like a pretty smart guy and seems to have good character.
