This is excellent. Now all the players can concentrate exclusly on court business. We can bild a great core for the next years. I just hope this does not mean Marion is going to leave in end of the season.
Boris Diaw is a great player - future all-star IMO

I sure hope so too, but right now I'm just happy they have Boris locked up.

Tonight's game is the second sellout of a preseason home game. Maybe they'll pull in enough revenue this year to kick up the profits.

FAN-TASTIC!

Holee Sh*te: We gotta a real FRONTLINE. Crazy Eyes Kurt Thomas, Amare "McDyess", Bad Ass Boris and the Matrix!

Here's hoping the luxury tax rises faster than our salary structures!

Sounds like they compromised. They were originally 10 mill off, and it looks like they settled in the middle. Great deal for Phoenix. I'm glad that this is over, and that it got done before the season. The Suns learned their lesson from JJ.

They did compromise, so props go both ways on this one. Sarver came up with the money to make it work. Boris took less when he could have held out for more considering his breakout performance last year. It's great to see a player who looks at the whole picture:

"I'm really happy because I had a great season," Diaw said. "It was a lot of fun. I'm happy I can still be with this team for a long time because I like the city, the team and the organization."

and next year (or whenever) marions time comes, we can dump off kurt thomas' big salary or trade some of our draft picks for cash again to keep matrix

45 million is good for a guy that's played only one good season.

I think Boris would have no problem signing a equal or even fater contract with another team, certainly a weaker one.
That being said i think is a win-win situation for both Suns and Boris.
No one will repent this deal.

One hurdle at a time

phx is already 3 million over the luxury tax i think. do they trade marion now for an expirer and a young guy right now or do they trade him in the offseason to a team that can absorb his contract? (charlote, atlanta, memphis, possibly orlando)

No, if Marion does end up going, it's going to be after the season is over. They are going to give this group one last shot to win it all. If it doesn't work out, then we might see some players go. Unless, of course, Sarver has a change of heart and is willing to pay the luxury tax.

In what way has either JJ shown anything worthy of getting excited about?

JJ1 was brick-cold last post season but should be an okay, but moody, role-player this year. JJ2 could be good, but I don't put him in the class with KT, Stat, 3D and Trix. Besides he's a one-year rental, so don't adopt him just yet.

Hell, they don't even have their own nicks - the J. Jones boys have to share.
