Default Orlando Magic 2009 Offseason Moves

Well guys, I still bet Turkoglu will opt out. Also, Marcin Gortat, Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue are free agents.

I want to re-sign Marcin Gortat and I'd love to re-sign Turkoglu (if he opts out), but we'll have to see how much they want and realistically I don't think we'll get Turkoglu back if he really thinks he's worth $55 million over 5 years.

As for AJ and Tyronn Lue, they're definitely fine to leave in my book as long as Rafer Alston is ok with being a backup PG. Maybe keep one of them if necessary as a reserve PG.

not many are going to offer him 55mil considering his age. I would expect a resign from him. Gortat i see moving for you guys though, solid backup.

55 mil , 5 years is not a bad deal for Hedo. the magic should of paid lewis less now they don't have any cap-space to spent.

I remember reading before in the Sentinel that Lewis was willing to take a pay cut to help the team out, but I'll believe it when I see it.

That's just the way things go if we cannot find a way to re-sign Turkoglu.

they should sign Mcdyess or Sheed if they can't resign hedo or maybe even if they can sign him.

They definitely seem to be going after Rasheed Wallace. :)

Who is going to fill out the Magic bench this year?Looks like Gortat is going to Houston. If they sign Rasheed Wallace they will probably have to move Lewis to SF...dont think Wallace wouldnt be happy with 20-25 minutes off the bench. The rest of the free agent market for big men is pretty thin...McDyess,Zaza Pachulia and Drew Gooden seem to be the best of what's out there.Ryan Anderson played pretty well at times last year for the Nets, but I dont know if the magic will use him at center.Definitely need a 3rd PG,maybe an undrafted FA or bring Lue back.Maybe we can lure Grant Hill or Matt Barnes to be our 6th man we need another SG/SF...hope the starting 5 stays healthy this year.

I think we should go after Rasheed and see where that gets us. But first we're still waiting to see if Turkoglu is going to come back or not (I bet he probably won't).

But as of right now our starting lineup looks like this:

Nelson
Carter
Pietrus
Lewis
Howard

I Dont think Toronto wants a sign and trade as they would be paying turk more and thats not what they want.

The magic need to get Marion some how or get Grant hill and Mcdyess on the cheap...

Grant hill and Pietrus can come off the bench and lewis can slide to the SF and Mcdyess to the PF position.

I definitely want us to make at least one more move in the offseason. There are still some good free agents out there.

Out:
Hedo Turkoglu (FA)
Courtney Lee (Trade)
Rafer Alston (Trade)
Tony Battie (Trade)

In:
Vince Carter (Trade)
Brandon Bass (FA) (4 years, 18 million, approx 4.5 million a year)
Matt Barnes (FA) (2 year, 3.6 million, approx 1.8 million a year) Note: I think the second year is a player option.

Retained Free Agents:
Marcin Gortat (5 years, 34 million, approx 6.8 million a year)
