safeties as well, consider such people as Deck (with an i) Butkus, probably the worlds greatest MLB ever seen, he said it pretty good "I wouldn't ever set out to hurt anyone deliberately unless it was, you know, important —like a league game or something."

Huge let down, I guess Chargers as a whole don't want to win that badly. Bunch of off the field issues, it's tiring. Foley (multiple times), Kiel, Phillips, and now Merriman?

Then they'll most likely lose Michael Turner from free agency this offseason.

And why the hell is Merriman appealing this? The longer this appeal process takes place, the more likely he'll miss BOTH Denver games. Idiotic.

You take steroids because you want to win and/or be a greater player so badly that you're willing to jeopardize your health, cheat, and break the law to improve yourself as an athlete, not because you don't care about winning. If anything, it's symptomatic of caring too much.

You're right, but I wasn't just citing Merriman.

Only a person that doesn't know Merriman's bio would say this.

Some athletes get two year bans, but not all. NFL players are pros too. And losing a quarter-season for a first offense is plenty tough. Merriman could have made an honest mistake, for which ending his career would be an awful penalty.

Yeah get a 2yr ban for taking a supplement that you find out has something on the NFL banned substance list. You plead honest mistake, accident etc etc but too bad. 2yr ban.

You realize there are more players who are serving 4 game suspensions right? Should be 2yr minimum bans tho right?
