If you've ever read (and enjoyed) Giffen and DeMatteis' JLA, you'll enjoy X-Factor.

Zen go Judge

and i have to agree with Chains, he gets big props for introducing me to it. X-Factor might by my X-book. If your looking for some of the more traditional x-characters though, Uncanny is nice, especially since it picked up a very good writer in Kieron Gillen. X-Force is great.

I'll look into X Factor because it's crazy that Astonishing would have no mention of to any of the crossovers. Madness.

And X Factor starting from version one? Or start from version three?

DC Announces Post-"Flashpoint" Details, Relaunches all titles.

Quote:
In the wake of its summer "Flashpoint" event, DC Comics will re-number its entire superhero line, debuting more than 50 first issues in September while introducing "a more modern, diverse DC Universe."

The sweeping line-wide change debuts on Aug. 31, when the pubisher releases just two comics -- the final issue of "Flashpoint," and the first issue of "Justice League," under the new creative team of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee. According to DC's Source blog, the premiere of "Justice League" will also mark the beginning of same-day digital release for all of the ongoing titles, "making DC Comics the first of the two major American publishers to release all of its superhero comic book titles digitally the same day as in print."

USA Today announced that the changes include costume redesigns for more than 50 superheroes, sprearheaded by Lee, intended "to make characters more identifiable and accessible to comic fans new and old."

"We looked at what was going on in the marketplace and felt we really want to inject new life in our characters and line," Co-Publisher Dan DiDio told the newspaper. "This was a chance to start, not at the beginning, but at a point where our characters are younger and the stories are being told for today's audience."

In a letter to retailers, DC's Senior Vice President-Sales Bob Wayne explained that the new No. 1 issues "will introduce readers to a more modern, diverse DC Universe, with some character variations in appearance, origin and age. All stories will be grounded in each character's legend -- but will relate to real world situations, interactions, tragedy and triumph."

"Some of the characters will have new origins, while others will undergo minor changes," he wrote. "Our characters are always being updated; however, this is the first time all of our characters will be presented in a new way all at once."

The image that accompanied the USA Today story also holds some clues to how sweeping the post-"Flashpoint" changes will be. It appears as if Wonder Woman's costume will remain largely the same as it's been since Lee redesigned it last year. The other characters' costumes all feature the same uniform neckline, and Superman sports a new "S" symbol across his chest.

lets see how this unfolds...

more on this from IGN, some rehash but some new info

Quote:
At last, DC Comics has shown their hand after weeks of speculation. The rumors of a massive DC Universe reboot have been confirmed. In September, comic fans will be the recipients of 52 #1 issues as the entire line of DC Universe titles gets a relaunch. Everyone from Superman to Booster Gold will be getting a revamp, which includes redesigns and a "younger" continuity.

DC Comics co-publisher Dan Didio told USA Today, "We looked at what was going on in the marketplace and felt we really want to inject new life in our characters and line. This was a chance to start, not at the beginning, but at a point where our characters are younger and the stories are being told for today's audience."

Among the 52 new #1s will be Justice League written by DC superstar Geoff Johns and drawn by DC co-publisher Jim Lee. This new Justice League will mark Johns and Lee's first ever collaboration, and will reunite the iconic lineup of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Aquaman. Justice League #1 will launch on August 31, alongside the final issue of Flashpoint. The relaunch of the DCU means that Lee will be handling about 50 redesigns of iconic costumes, similar to what he did with Wonder Woman just over a year ago.

In addition, with this new DCU will be an increased focus on digital publishing, as every single DCU superhero title will be delivered day-and-date. This means that when the new Superman #1 releases, it will be available simultaneously in your local shop and on digital platforms. Despite your concerns/enthusiasm about the DCU reboot, it's undeniable that DC's re-focused digital plan is commendable.

"We're allowing people who have never bought a comic book in their lives to download them on portable media devices and take a look," Lee told USA Today. "Having the ability to give people access to these comics with one button click means we're going to get a lot of new readers."

There has been no specific details released yet in regards to what will happen to things like Batman, Inc., Lois and Clark's marriage, Dick Grayson as Batman, etc., but we will post any information as soon as we have it.

Sound off readers, we're positive you've got some things to say. Also feel free to speculate conspiracy theories about the fact that there are 52 #1s planned (the number of Earths in the multiverse).

Looks like I'll have a lot more DC to check out. Hope it turns out well.

And Joker, what series should be read leading up to Schism. That's sorta why i wanted to know which was the best X Men series to read. Because that link said Schism is culmination of events since House of M, which I have but want to read the right books to lead into that. Can one read X Factor into Schism?

pronoun confusion for me lol, books to lead up to House of M, or to Schism.

as far as X-Men Crossover events go, it goes House of M -> Messiah CompleX -> Messiah War -> Second Coming -> Schism

House of M is preceeded by Planet X and Avengers Disassembled.

um, so yeah, if you can clarify what you need, i'll try to find what you need to read, but it might be a massive amount of comics

I guess what I mean is what's the best series to pick up in order to go into House of M and eventually go into Schism. Because with Astonishing having ignored House of M, I'm guessing I can't really read that one. So I'm not sure if I should read Uncanny or X Factor or whatever. I just want something that will tie into the crossovers (unlike Astonishing).

ok, i'm sure someone more knowledgeable about X-Men will correct me but leading up to House of M,

I'd recommended reading Avengers: Disassembled to get a better grasp on Scarlet Witch.

I'd also read New X-Men in it's entirety, done by Grant Morrison, his run starts at 114 and ends at 154, since that is basically the best starting point for the modern X-men.

and if i were to choose a main series to follow of the X-Men to get the best grasp on everything, crossovers and all, i think the best bet would be Uncanny X-Men
