Arenas has skewed toward the latter thus far

Either of these possibilities is fascinating; both are a little depressing, as they once and for all would cement Arenas as NOT THAT GUY

All this...all of this will just add fuel to his fire. Under a great coach, with a great supporting cast, this writer is digging hard. See if this dude is still talkin' shiiiiit once the season starts.

indeed, he was just searching for reasons to hate. but it was still a good read. it is all about that supporting cast, that is what they don't want to talk about.

I mean, ok, I'm a huge Gil fan, obviously. I love his game, his swagger. But I recognize his faults. Yes, he does need to shut up at times. Yes, he does need to be smarter on the floor at times. Yes, he does need to trust his team at times. Yes, he does need to attack the rim more at times. I understand that. I know his flaws, his weaknesses. I know them.

You got Caron and Antawn rounding out a top 5 Big 3 in the L. You got Miller, a three point specialist. You got a poor man's Wade in Foye, you got a potential star in Young, an underpolished big man in McGee, a lockdown D type of guy in Stevenson, I mean, the team is well put together. My point is that, Arenas, not having played in an NBA game in nearly two years (those games where he TRIED to come back don't cut it in my book), will be more mature. He will be smarter because he knows what the NBA has become in his absence. He's seen what KG, Pierce and Ray did. He's seen how Kobe's crumbled one season then came back strong, trusted his team and won the title the next. The guy won't score as much. He won't take as many shots, and he does, they will be smart shots. The writer doesn't know what change is, what two years off an NBA court can do to player like Gilbert Arenas. How it can change his perspective, his mindset.

Gil's a grownass man. He's been through a lot. A lot of ups and downs. The 60 point game. The gamewinner to beat the Bulls in 05. Elimination by Lebron and company three straight years. That travel by Lebron which essentially sealed the series. The 54 point game against the Suns. The missed freethrow when Lebron said something in his ear.

He's got a chip on his shoulder. He's out to not only prove this writer wrong, but also everyone else that's doubted him. No he's not changing his number just because he's coming back. He's keeping it as 0. Just to remind everyone, every single person what he had to do was get here. And let them think he's another pre 2008 Kobe. Let them think he's another jackass, another ballhog, another attention whore. The truth of the matter is, he is so so so much more. He really is.

^ most definitely. that was good stuff. speaking of which, do you have a link to the still frame of arenas game winner in chicago? i have been looking, i can not find it.

anyway, i believe in flip. i was obsessed with KG growing up so i came to know his style. i have said it before, i think he will be able to control arenas and still keep him happy, morph him into how chauncey was in minny right when he was emerging as mr. big shot.

flip will give him responsibility, he will know what it is. i get the feeling eddie was really just appeasing the star players and not setting clear roles. that could have be part of why some wizards seem to have flashes of brilliance and then disappear.

he can make his solid 7-8 man rotation where people know what they have to do, and this will trickle down the bench like a good form of reaganomics. whoever is not getting minutes will see they have to really impact the game to get time. that is the great side of the deep team.. but only if people know and accept their roles.

we all know about arenas. i really love the guy, i just want to reserve judgement until he is out there barreling in to defenders and getting to the ft line 10 times a game. if he can get back to that, the wizards will be elite.

and i do believe in him, i just need to see how he really is out there. we can only hope for the best.

regardless of the nice bench, i would like to see the wiz do some 2 fo 1 or something to tighten it up. i want nick young to not have to feel like he has to compete with stevenson. i want mcgee to know blatche won't be taking half my minutes. somewhere they got to open at minutes at one of the flexible positions.

but again, i reserve judgement on gilbert. if he comes back at 90% the wizards will shock the league. but even if he doesn't, i think he is smart enough and hungry enough to adapt to what the team needs. all we can do is believe in the miracle worker that is tim grover.

Yeah, I got that pic haha. I have all of Gil's big moments in a folder. Here's the shot.

And I agree with you on the 2 for 1. I don't know if you saw the thread in the main forum about Bell possibly being traded but I think if we ship out McGuire and Stevenson to get Bell, we would be set. McGuire's worn out his welcome and Bell can do more then Stevenson ever could.
