Yea. Some olympic track coach. he said Arenas was a notch below olympic world class speed running with poor technique. And that if he applied himself to the sport he could be in the olympics as a sprinter with little work.
thats one thing that kinda irks me about Gil. he's willing to put all this work in but he's not willing to do the right work. he works on his shot really hard... but his form is terrible. he trains like nobody's business... but still has crappy running form. he works out 24/7... but still has hamburgers 3 meals a day. it's like he's creating walls for himself to not take it to the next level.

What makes Arenas better than Stack?
thank you.. and goodbye.

The thing that bugs me about Arenas is this. He's a PG that can score like nobodys business. So was KJ. Both are lightning quick and pretty athletic(See KJ poster on Hakeem). However KJ knew what to do with the ball. He was getting 20+ points and double-digit assists. If this fool played like KJ and took a few less shots on those plays and instead passed the ball, he would be a better player and his team would probably get more wins.
yea? who is Gilbert supposed to pass to? you realize he has only 2 teammates right? you know how many times Gilbert lost an assist last year because Jeffries or Etan blew an open dunk? still managed more than 6. Gilbert doesn't play a PG role on this team he plays a scoring one. and still gets 6 assists. what's the problem?

i admire gilbert. look how far he's gotten. he's a bonafide superstar now and he was only a 2nd rd pick? plus, from reading his interviews, he sounds like a really humble-down to earth type of guy.

Just to clear some things up-

Stackhouse put up 29ppg on 40% shooting on a 30 win team. Arenas did it on 45% shooting on a playoff team at with a TS of 58%. The year Stackhouse won 50 games, he did it with averages of 21ppg on 39% shooting, just about any decent starting SG could of played that role. They traded for Rip Hamilton and got better. Stack never put up 34ppg in a playoff series, never was as efficient as Gilbert, and never put up the kind of assist/steals numbers that Gil puts up. The comparison is there only to put Gilbert down, Arenas is a closer to an efficient Allen Iverson than he is Stack.

The thing with Gilbert is, he's the most entertaining personality in the NBA, and that's even if he was putting up only 15/3/3 he would still be that entertaining. So I don't get the idea of not caring, he's not a bland player on the court or off the court.

Ray Allen actually does take almost the same number of shots as Gilbert, the major difference is, Ray Allen is not capable of getting to the FT line 10x a game like Gilbert does. That's where theirs a big difference offensively. Gilbert is much more explosive going to the hoop. That's the true reason why Ray Ray can never put up anything close to 30ppg.

Do they count shots youre fouled on in your FGAs? Something I should know...and I think they dont....but im not sure. Ive never had reason to find out for sure.

If its an "and one" yes. If you miss it they don't.

With assist you don't get credit on "and ones".

No they don't count shots, but let's be real, anybody who watches the games can see Allen is nowhere near as explosive or quick going to the hoop as Arenas. You talked about their shooting and clutchess, but what seperates them is that Arenas much like Wade or Iverson can get to the hoop any time he wants and Ray Ray cannot.

I can't believe that.
I hate Kobe, I hate everything about him, and I'd rather ride out the next decade with Gil. I don't believe either Kobe or Gil is good enough to lead us to a title without a lot of help, so if neither one is able to do that I might as well take the guy I like.

objectively? if I didn't care about the Wizards or like Gilbert I'd say trade Gil for Kobe in a split second. but Im not objective. I don't want to watch Kobe play 82 games a year.

"Gilbo" put up 34ppg and matched the best player in the game shot for shot over the last 5 games of a playoff series, almost knocking him and his superior team out in the first round despite zero help, in fact, if you recall, almost all of the games came down to last-second heroics in which the Cavs had more luck than the Wizards did.

Gil missed 2 FTs at an inopportune time. to say he's a choker is ridiculous. he has nailed those FTs every other time in his career, he averaged around 15ppg in the fourth quarter in the playoffs last year..... but ask mav fans. ask me, a Wiz fan. Stack is the biggest 80%+ FT choker EVER. guy is a brick oven from the line in crunchtime.

Stack had that year because SOMEBODY had to take the shots on that Piston team. it was a team full of a bunch of defensive specialists and Stack. somebody has to put the shot up. that somebody was usually Stack. doesn't put him on Gil's level. Gil's done it 2 years in a row on a REAL team, and he's done it even moreso in the playoffs.

no.

how would you not know that? how else does Gil get 30 per on 20 shots per game? he aint shootin 70%..

Quote:
Kblaze, I remember last year you said Gil wasn't a top 20 player, and this seems to be an extension of that. I don't understand your logic of why Gilbert would be on Ray Allen's level, he's put up better numbers the last two years than Ray Ray ever has. To me it's just random underrating. I'm guessing you put guys like Pierce or VC above Ray Allen right?
Blaze looks for reasons to hate him because he sent his team home with the pullup in game 5 and the swat in game 6.

don't deny it.

I like how you fail to mention that defense then was a HELL of a lot tougher than it is now. Late 90's-early 00's was maybe the toughest era ever to score in because of defense and the style of play used. Stack put up 21/4/5 on that 50 win team. No "decent starting SG" could have done that. I like how even though Stack played SG, he got almost as many assists as Arenas

such things happen when you have the ball in your hands 24/7 which is a luxury that Gilbert has never had.

seriously.. as an aside... I hate when people try to tell me Gilbert is a ball-dominating player... if there is one bad thing he's not, it's that. people say chucker.. fine; unwise player, fine; careless, fine. inconsistent. but to say "oh well of course he gets 30/6, he has the ball in his hands all game long" .... no he does not!
