Default Important Draft Tips

I kno its a little late but this is for those that are still drafing and were smart and drafted at the end.

-It is important to draft all around players first round.
-Load up ur UTIL with PF's and PG's. IF u get the right ones u can get PGs with good threes steals assists and points and good PFs with good blocks, rebounds and points.
-Find players that u want and put them in ur queue so u dont forget
-Look for two position players like wade, hinrich, johnson or okur josh smith.

always target those rare stats like steals and blocks while your drafting
because its hard to pick up a player who has those stats

Free Agents - Very easy to get guys who AVG alot of ppg and rpg and maybe apg also
Hard to get guys who get blocks and steals

The only real strategy I have is unless one of the top C's falls into my lap in the first 2 or 3 rds, I wait until the middle to late rounds to grab them because most of them suck. Grabbing a guy like Krstic (15/8) in the mid to late rds is a much better pick than taking Okur in the earlier rds. I think guys like Okur are way overrated. I hate when people say "take Okur, he'll get u a lot of 3's from the CENTER position." Who cares! If u drafted your G's & SF's right, u should have more than enough 3's out of those positions. There are FA's in most leagues right now that will give u 1-2 3's per game.

I'm with JRT on this one. Unless i get a solid yao/duncan/amare/bosh center in the first couple of rounds I will wait till the 7th or 8th to grab a 14/8/1.5 guy (they are usually there). I expand this to a more general rule that I draft by... "always get the best player available at the time of your pick, reguardless of position".

Don't take this too literally of course and draft 12 PGs, but don't feel like you need to fill out all of your roster spots early and end up drafting guys that are worse than other available players just b/c of position.

My only other advice is to avoid injury-prone guys, unless they are by far the best available pick. Having one of your first four picks miss major time is the quickest way to end your season.

The bigger your league the more you have to draft big early pf-c . then take pg's and then swingmen

I'm talking 18- 20 team leagues.

Oh the irony. Hawker making a Draft tips thread.

I usually go draft best availbable first round. 2nd round draft one of the top tier pgs while avoiding injury risks both rounds. (that means camby, gerald wallace, amare, etc.) Then make sure to draft a center before the 2nd tier drop. Then draft around the players you have while only picking players that have upside or that you feel are steals in the later rounds.

I have 4 and potentially 5 players better than his best player. But I have you to thank Glove for releaving Hawker of Chris Paul.
