The Lakers are so beat up even their coach is nursing his way back.
The Clippers are in such good shape, coming off their best season since moving to Los Angeles in 1984, you wonder if cockiness might be an issue.
Such is the state of the two area NBA teams, a week away from the start of the regular season: The wounded Lakers are still in recovery mode after their championship era crashed, and the Clippers -- yes, the Clippers -- are heady with high self-esteem.
But it's a long season. Six months from now, it's likely these two will be fighting in the same tier for spots in the postseason, both somewhere in the 46-to-50 win range.
I like the Lakers' chances, as much as the Clippers'. Never mind Kobe Bryant's knee surgery, the twin casualties (Kwame Brown and Chris Mihm) in the middle, the assorted other nicks, and even Coach Phil Jackson's lost preseason due to hip surgery.
The pain will pass. And so will Kobe. Official prediction: Bryant loses five points off his 2005-06 scoring average and the Lakers will gain five wins, to a 50-32 season.
Talent wise we are the same (except at shooting gaurd spot we clearly own that)
So ELTON BRAND and the rest of Clipper starters and bench are the
same as that other LA team's talent.
Outside of Bryant, tell us who is more talented position by position
on that team than the Clippa talent..Even Dr Phil would prefer
the Clippa roster outside of Bryant.
Clippers have 4 better starters and a better bench yet they only won 2 games more last year.

Maybe because injuries took a toll on them? Showing what depth they have. I'm sure if Lakers had their 2nd option, backup PG, backup C and a sharpshooter out for most of the year and their 2guard playing with an injured hand, they most likely wouldn't sniff the playoffs.

well Centers are evenly matched and you never know if Bynum can break out...Bynum is showing signs of GREATNESS.

What are u talking about u make no sense. Just stop while your ahead. The lakers are full of young potential talent. With a very birght future. The clippers there whole team should be in a nursing home. They have little talent and they dont have the players needed to win a championship.

I didn't know Yaroslav Korolev, Shaun Livingston, Daniel Ewing, Chris Kaman, James Singleton, etc. belong in a nursing home, then you have Elton Brand, Corey Maggette, Quinton Ross. And they don't have the players needed? Please, what the **** are you smoking? They have the great perimiter defender who can hit the J in Ross, the Post Bangers in Brand and Kaman(they did lead the league in blocks), the shooters in Thomas, Cassell and Mobley, the slasher in Maggette and the distrubitors(sp??) in Shaun Livingston and Sam Cassell.
