Default Brad Childress extended through 2013

Quote:
ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Vikings agreed to terms with coach Brad Childress on a contract extension that will lock him up through the 2013 season.
The contract Childress originally signed back in 2006 was scheduled to expire after the 2010. The new deal is believed to be between $4 million and $5 million per year. Childress was the object of widespread criticism in Minnesota before leading his team to an 8-1 start this season, but he deserves a lot of credit for his pursuit of and patience with Brett Favre.

This guy is a terrible coach and he's getting an extension because he has a QB good enough to cover up his mistakes? Favre probably won't be there for the last 3 years of that deal, and if for some reason he is, Favre definitely won't be nearly as good ash he's been this year.

Just before the Vikes were able to land Favre Childress was on the hot seat and now they get the 40 year old QB and he gets a 4 year extension? Wow, just...wow

Maybe Brady or Manning will retire in the next two years and Childress will be able to go pick one of them up at the airport to play for him for a year or two.

My favorite part about the article says Childress has lead the Vikes to a 7-1 record. I think he had a lot more to do with that 1 loss than he did in any of the 7 wins.

Childress had the game won but two mistakes caused the loss, bad illegal block call from the ref and Chester Taylor having the ball bounce off his hands to the defense.

I didn't get to watch the game but havve a friend who is a Vikes fan and said there was some very questionable play calling in a goaline situation late in the game aagainst the Steelers. He's a huge Vikings homer and their success and Favres success this year has really made him hard to deal with sometiems but he even says the only reason the Vikings wouldn't win the Super Bowl this year is because of Childress.

Vikes will be regretting this when they make an early exit from the playoffs because of Favre's old man syndrome. Seriously though, there's no way you can give Childress credit for the Vikings success so far.
