On Sunday, the Nets fired longtime coach Lawrence Frank and put the team in the hands of "temporary" interim coach Tom Barrise, an assistant coach under Frank. Barrise is among several candidates to become the "permanent" interim coach, a list that includes assistant coach John Loyer and general manager Kiki Vandeweghe, whose incursions into the locker room last season prompted Frank to tell Rod Thorn that he'd rather be fired than have Vandeweghe continue to meddle outside his designated sphere of operations, a source told ESPN.com.
The players just don't seem to be on the same page. The guys on the floor have not meshed. If they can start playing as a unit, they may have a chance to win a few games, otherwise, it's going to be a very long season! Frank may have been charged with not molding his team together. Just a thought.
As a person who never was a fan of Larry Frank, I applaud his firing. It is unfortunate that it took The Nets going 0-16 for this move to be made. He should have never gotten the job in the first place.
I support the nets 100% but This has nothing to do with coaching. Its an issue with a lack of talent on the team. You can bring in the best coach in the world and it wont matter. Lawrence Frank was a good coach. Its up to guys like Rod Thorn to supply his coach with the pieces it needs to win ball games. Everyone wanted young prospects, youth, the future, and thats exactly what they got. A team filled with youth and potential that cant win any damn ball games. When Vince Carter was on the team last year everyone talks about him being old and missing a step, but look at him now in Orlando. What people, especially Fans and Media fail to realize is that you need Veteran guys to win games along with youth and potential...im all for that but this nets team is filled with youth and potentional and not enough star veterans that can lead our youth, show them the way.
I applaud the efforts of Harris, Lopez, CDR, and TWill but its not enough. Look the Nets set themselves up to be a very good team in the future, and this year was bound to happen, but not like this. 0-18, i mean we have to start winning some games, and not be the laughing stock of the nBA. Jason Kidd said it best...RATNER cares nothing about basketball, only about real estate. He is to blame for a lot of this. If you are going to get rid of guys like Kidd, Jefferson, Carter, Martin (championship contenders) you have to replace them with the correct pieces. You want younger guys? FINE but they have to be able to replace the championship contending VETs that you got rid of. Damn i wish i was a GM.
