Peterson having Favre, Rice, Harvin and that left side of the line is not going to hurt his numbers. It would HELP him because teams can't focus all their energy on one player because others will make them pay.

You think Peyton would put up better numbers surrounded by less talent? No.

QBs benefit statwise with better talent than RBs because they distribute the ball to those talented players on the team. The RB is has to share the ball with those other guys, so his numbers will inevitably decline.

He's on pace for 328 rushes this year, and he had 363 last year.

He'll probably finish close to 350 rushes since this is the time when teams want to run the ball, and they'll wanna preserve Favre.

So really, he's getting pretty close to the same amount of touches when it's all said and done. He's not even having a bad season, not by any stretch.... but him not having the numbers that Johnson is putting up isn't because Peterson has more talent around him.

I'll tell you what... I made a fantasy trade for Steven Jackson a few weeks ago and, while I knew he was good back, I never really invested a lot of time into watching him.

After paying very close attention the last few weeks, I'm blown away by how good he is. The Rams have nothing. They have no quarterback, no receivers and their offensive line is average to below average. Yet, this guy consistently puts up 100 yards and is still almost impossible to stop.

The guy is a truck and he runs a 4.4 40-yard dash. He is also elusive and quick... The total package.

I like Chris Johnson, but given the choice, I would take SJax over him every time. I think that AP and SJax are the two best in the league and Chris Johnson/DeAngelo Williams are a step behind them.... But not miles away.

SJax needs to be in this conversation.

Steven Jackson is the "total package". When the Pats were rumored to be targeting him at the trade deadline I was scared ****less.

You need to take a closer look, -pt-. SJax has never played less than 12 games in a season. I wouldn't call that injury prone, especially since he has completely carried the load in St. Louis since entering the league.

The man doesn't have a weakness. He is every bit as good as AP, imho. Did I also mention that he is one of the best pass-catching RBs in the league and also a tremendous pass-blocker? SJax would be downright scary running behind that line in Minnesota... Scary.

Sickness. He is truly one of the fastest players I have ever seen... Maybe the fastest. Two DBs had the angle on him and he just simply smoked them. It is one thing to run a great 40 time at the combine... It is another to be this fast on the actual field.

Amazing.

AP loses another fumble. Trying to fight off the defender with his opposite arm, exposing the ball to defenders.

Chris Johnson got 2nd in the 100m in Florida in high school. He got beat by Olympic medalist Walter Dix. He was also a 2 star football recruit.

Chris Johnson is a great football player who happens to be really, really fast, not a really, really fast guy who plays football.

Very, very well. Hell... He is tearing up in St. Louis with nothing to help him.

AP may be slightly faster, but SJax is bigger and more powerful. SJax is also significantly better as a receiver and pass-blocker... And he fumbles much less.

I think it is very close between the two. Seriously... If you haven't been watching a lot of SJax this year, you need to make it a point to check him out. Like I said, I knew he was good, but I had no idea how good until I actually started really paying attention. He is really fun to watch. Actually, he and AP are very similar players... Freaks of nature.

are you saying it is just a coincidence that he just happens to have the fastest recorded 40 time in the NFL?

the biggest part of what makes him a "great football player" is his speed...

that goes for Peterson as well...

he has only played a full season once in his past 5 years...

if he plays all 16 games this year, that only be the second time he has done it...

that is 4 years with injury issues...
