Default Marion may sit opener

Suns notebook - Marion out with back spasms; may sit opener

By Jerry Brown
East Valley Tribune
Oct. 30, 2006
A Suns training camp that has already had its share of strains, sprains and other maladies continued on a similar tone Sunday when All-Star Shawn Marion sat out most of the workout with back spasms, putting his availability for Tuesday’s season opener in Los Angeles in question.

“It’s sore, no doubt,” said Marion, who took a few jumpers to begin practice before feeling pain during a one-on-one drill and taking a seat. “I’m getting treatment (Sunday) and some more before practice (today) and hopefully I’ll be good to go.

“I don’t want to sit out. If I’m decent, I’ll go.”

Marion initially hurt the back taking a charge from Andrew Bynum of the Lakers in the first half Oct. 22 in San Diego. He played only two minutes of the second half but came back to play 28 minutes the next night against Seattle. He was able to practice all week before the pain increased Sunday.

And from the same link:

"The schedule makers weren’t exactly kind to the Suns in November. Not only do they open the season with three sets of back-to-back games in the first 10 days — two times, opponents will be rested and waiting for them on the second night."

Yup, both those games will be against the Clipps too.

Pretty rough start for the Suns, but this might be their hardest stretch of the year, so hopefully they'll stay afloat till then.

i did expect a slow start anyway for several reasons, but as long as they can gear it up by January they'll be okay. So many question marks .............

There's always scheduling complaints. They open 10 of 15 at home, so at the end of the season they'll complain about all these away games.

Who cares, just let's make some 3's and win some games until Amare can quit mcdyessing around and get back to a little greatness.

Thats the spirit. I think we'll tank as badly to start as we did last year, but hey, why not?

Of course there is. I just think that it's important that we got off to a decent start so we don't have to dig our way out later. They have a a pretty rough opening 2 weeks, whether they have more home games or not.

I'm just hoping they keep their heads above water and get through this stretch, because it'll ease up after this.
