is anyone else suprised that miles austin is allready on $1.5 mil a season? considering in his first 3 seasons as an undrafted player he made 18 receptions, then this year hes obivously stepped it up, got more PT, but i look at someone like domanik hixon who is on about $400K has been a big part of the giants for the last 3 or so seasons as a kick returner and 3rd choice WR

It might be a little early to call him "elite" as he really didn't play that much last year and when he did there were a few mistakes...although, this is Revis's second year as well...the difference is just that not only was Revis a complete bad ass last year, but he is also ALWAYS asked to take on the best WR most of the game and he ALWAYS takes them out...

IMO the top tier would be:

-Revis
-Woodson
-Nnamdi

then after that you have like 6-10 CBs that all fall into the second tier...and the way that Jenkins has been playing THIS YEAR would most certainly have him in that second tier...

Alot of Dallas fans are reluctant to say that Jenkins is the best CB on the team right now, although they do acknowledge that he has been playing better than Newman so far this year...and I can see why some would be hesitant to put Jenkins over CBs that have been in the league forever like Bailey and Asante...

It is early, but so far this year he has been playing at an elite level...we will just see what happens from here...

I'm not going to sit here and talk about something I really don't have a good grasp on - I haven't gotten around to watching as many games as I've wanted, thus I don't see every cornerback play to have an educated opinion.

I refuse to go by what other people say. I make my own opinions up.

But I have seen the Cowboys play half their games this year....so Jenkins is someone who I've seen enough. If he's a top 10 corner this year, that position has some seriouse lack of depth because while he's playing good... he's not playing outstanding week in week out.

^^^ that is the opposing QB's passer rating this year when throwing toward the particular CB...(that does NOT include this week, where Jenkins picked off Brees, and should have had a second pick, he will probably move into top 5 after that is calculated)

and yeah, apparently Nnamdi is having an "off year"...

not at all...

Webster has been getting burned all year too...

although from what I am hearing from Cincy fans, Joseph might not even be the best CB on his own team...

some say Hall is better..???

I need to pay more attention to both of those guys...

Stats don't tell me anything. My eyes can tell me much more than stats can and I refuse to judge someone I don't see a lot of by stats and make my opinions from that. That's YOUR way of doing things - not mine.

Like Powers, I've seen enough of him (obviously) to know he's not better, or having a better year than Asomugha or Rodgers Cromarie.... even though the stats say he is better.

A lot of it has to do with scheme. If you're playing a cover two and your a corner, you're basically defending 10 yards or so from the line of scrimmage and usually no bigger completion than 10 yards goes past him.... so obviously the passer rating against will be much better than someone who's playing man to man defense.

I use my eyes just like you do...and NEITHER one of our eyes are watching Jenkins getting burned this year...he has pretty much been a shut down...

I have no idea why you are saying he hasn't been good week in and week out...

even when he does give up a catch (which is rare) he is still on the WR like glue who had to make an amazing catch...

wow...

Okay, well in Nnamdi's defense he has been targeted the least of all those listed...only 26 times

however, in those 26 targets, 21 of them were completed

Nnamdi has also only given up 1 TD, that one to Vincent...

apparently Revis has given up 2 TDs...

Revis has been targeted 91 times...35 of those were caught...

Jenkins is 79/42...only 2 TDs

Up until Newman hurt his knee, he was the Cows CB taking the opposing teams top WR a majority of the time.

Wade did glue Newman to Steve Smith against Carolina early this year, but other than that I am not aware of another time...

when we went to Philly they just kept each to their sides...the pick that Jenkins has was him covering DeSean Jackson...

thats why i didnt say "who has been better so far this year?" i said "isnt newman better?". you do understand the difference between the two, right? like i said earlier in this very thread, romo has been better than brady so far this year......

i would say that newman is a top 10 cb in the NFL. if jenkins is also a top 10 cb in the nfl, that means that this dallas team with two top 10 cbs and a great pass rush in d ware is still ranked 21st in pass defense. fail
