Why does it have to be "something Montana never did" instead of what it should be, "what those 49'ers never did"

To go 19-0.... is much bigger then a quarterback. It's much bigger than two or three players. It's a team accomplishment. In the ultimate team sport, to single out one player for winning is stupid

Colts aren't going 19-0. They will lose to the Chargers for the 100th time in a big spot. Book it. Unless the Chargers don't make it to the AFC Championship game lol. There's no guarantee the Colts make it there either, too many times they have come up short in the playoffs at home. So get back to me at the end of the season.

Why does it always have to be "something Romo never did" instead of what it should be, "what thoes Cowboys never did"

It is a team sport, no question, but for most teams (esp the Colts) the QB is the team's leader...the one that drives them, the face of the team, ect...

if the Colts were like the 70s Steelers then it would be different, as many people do not give that much credit to Bradshaw for hois 4 rings...

I know what you are saying Carbine, I get it, but this is just something that is the way it is...you are always one to defend Big Ben as the motor running behind the Steelers...

Romo will NEVER get credit untill he wins a ring...and you know what ROMO KNOWS IT!!!

this is something that Steve Young understood well...after he won his ring he could finally get out from under Montana's shadow..."get the monkey off my back"...

is Jim Kelly in your top 10 list???....why not???

it might not be fair, but it is the way that people view QBs...

Before Romo wins a ring, he needs to win a playoff game first

and with that coach, that is probably never happening

Romo never held up his end up the bargain in years past, that's why he gets blamed. Aren't the Boys 1-2 in December so far? Nobody is mentioning Romo as a result of that - and it's because he's holding up his end of the bargain.

yes but if you were to ask someone why Romo isn't taken seriously they would say "because he hasn't won a meaningful game"... (see imdaman99's post above yours)...as though HE is the one that has to win the game...not his team...

Sure there is more that goes into winning a championship than one player, but to say tht the ring vs ring argument is close to irrelevant is ridiculous. I think post-season success is extremely important when determining the GOAT of any sport, and bottom line is that Peyton Manning has really underachieved in the post-season throughout his career.

edit: also, Peyton has had some pretty good teams throughout the years too, so its not like the only reason Peyton losses in the post season is his lack of good teammates. Manning has had better recievers than Brady for almost his entire career.

Too early for that talk let them go into the playoff's and let's see if they can hold up with everyone gunning for em b4 we start talking about 19-0 and The G.O.A.T. QB & last time I checked Tom Brady is still in the league.

And Brady won how many rings with great weapons? Zero.

How many did he win with average weapons? Three.

So what was the point of including that in your post, Nanners?

dude, brady has had "great weapons" for 1.5 years of his career, and during one of those years he went 18-1 and broke multiple passing records while quarterbacking one of the greatest football teams of all time. You dont think Brady could have played well with Randy Moss back in the early 2000s?

See you are inadvertantly proving my point even more nanners. Even having a great quarterback and great receivers doesn't make you the best team in the league in and of itself. What about having good blockers so that you have time to make those passes? And then what happens when you need to depend on your defense to make the stop. When do you think when the Colts played the Bears everyone said it was a matchup of offense vs defense?

This doesnt change the fact that Peyton Manning has generally underachieved in the post season throughout his career. If you guys are telling me that the GOAT of football is a QB with an all time 7-8 post season record with 1 superbowl win for his career I am telling you that you are crazy.

I think he has several great years ahead of him, so we'll see who has more rings at the end of the day when he and Brady's careers are both said and done. Even though he's already better, they will serve as further validation.

Man Romo is in a category by himself. I'd like to see a playoff game under his belt before I can even begin to think about a ring.

Dude, give me a break. I know it's a team sport, and fball is the most team-oriented sport as far as success goes, but Romo is a flat-out choker. He constantly ****s up in crucial situations. Sure, it isn't all on the QB, but when year after year, he fails to deliver, even with a stacked team, I don't think it's unfair to put the blame on Romo. He hasn't even won a playoff game.
