look at the titans game by game--- chris johnson became the mvp candidate when vince young came about.

Vince Young, Kerry Collins....CJ would have continued to beast and have a MVP caliber season. You trying to discredit him and act like Vince was the reason? nonsense. Smarten up.

Quote:
titans lose---johnson becomes a selfish, vain loudmouth (CJ2K!!!!!!!!11)--- team openly talks about having him break records, and !!!!!!!!!!!!! he does.

Yeah selfish. Loudmouth. No need to continue this argument. Someones mind is already tainted with CJ.

no way in hell he deserves an mvp vote.

Yes he did. Do your homework.

Chris Johnson set an NFL record with yards from scrimmage breaking Marshall Faulks record. Chris Johnson became the 6th RB in history to rush for over 2,000yds, something Adrian Peterson didnt do. He has the most explosive plays for touchdowns. No one in NFL history had 3 rushing tds for 85yds or more.

Only six other running backs in NFL history have had more than one TD run of 85 yards or more Shaun Alexander of the Seahawks (2001, 2005), Ahman Green of the Packers (2001, 2002), Bob Hoernschemeyer of the Lions (1950, 1951), Bo Jackson of the Raiders (1987, 1989), Hugh McElhenny of the 49ers (1952, 1956) and O.J. Simpson of the Bills (1972, 1975).

Your welcome.

instead of providing attempted 'zing' replys to comments of mine that you quoted, why don't you elucidate?

farve and peterson have nothing to do with this; peterson had a worse season than he did last year--- with a new qb that opened up the offense and gave opposing defenses a new dynamic to prepare for. one cannot compare two completely different teams, with different systems.

I know johnson's stats--- he was on my fantasy team, so going to (insert site where you got nfl stats from) and quoting it here is not convincing me of anything.

i'll get you started--- just for kicks:

all the previous players who rushed for 2000 or more yards either won the mvp award or received a decent number of votes for said award--- johnson's predecessors all garnered enough esteem for their performances to get the recognition--- why not johnson?

now.......go.

I'm not saying it was clear cut in either case. Only that when you cast your vote that you've got to pick one guy, not multiple. Agree to disagree I suppose.

The offense isnt different than it has been. The difference is the QB. And teams game plan to stop Peterson not Favre. Shut down/Contain Peterson and let Favre beat you. Minny also benefitted from the play action pass this season. I wonder who is responsible for setting that up? Peterson didnt have the season he had last year (wouldnt call it worse at all) but he still was productive and a threat teams feared.

Favre gets an MVP vote based on his stats because team success this year vs last differs how? Favre had probably his best statistical season of his career and its not shocking to know it came by having a RB like Peterson arguably the best in the game. And one defenses key in on moreso than not.

So you sit there acting as if CJ MVP buzz started when Vince came along and Titans started winning games. Doesnt matter who the QB was, CJ was going to do numbers this season whether anyone likes it or not. He's that explosive of a RB and legit. So introducing Vince into this discussion is because? Yeah, makes no sense much like my Favre/Peterson one eh? Thats my point.

You dont have the season CJ does and have fans say he didnt deserve 1 vote. Period.

undoubtedly, I see exactly where you are coming from here--- its a chicken/egg thing.

one could easily say--- and argue that--- cj made young better.

cj undoubtedly had a stunning season. MVP is--- in it of itself--- a flawed award. every football team has a player or two that are invaluable and necessary to its success.

my essential argument is that:

. cj's candidacy is linked to the teams miraculous turnaround--- which is linked vy's promotion to starter. cj's mvp-like-numbers are in some way related to that event..

.once the team stopped winning games, the team's defacto goal was to get cj the aforementioned milestones--- numbers for the sake of numbers are in no way valuable to a team in the sense of 'team' that the award 'mvp' is related to--- namely a successful group of guys whose success is largely dependent on the success of said 'mvp'.

Brees got robbed, better numbers across the board - more touchdowns, less interceptions, better quarterback rating, an NFL record for completion percentage and he had just as much team success in leading the Saints to the #1 seed in the NFC like Manning led the Colts.

Drew got Jobbed. Drew Brees is the true MVP.

Both were #1 in their respective conferences, where is the statistic that says the AFC is better than the NFC? The Saints put a beatdown on the AFC East this year. The only thing you can accomplish as far as team success in the regular season is the #1 seed, both quarterbacks did that, and Brees had a far better year statistically, it's his award, he got screwed.

Peyton is undefeated this year...Brees is not...it is that simple

It has nothing to do with that, Peyton started in the loss to the Jets, lead be damned. If the Colts go 16-0, then sure, but they didn't, so record is pretty irrelevant, 14-2 vs 13-3, both are #1, it should come down to who played better, and Brees was much better this year.
