nice mpc. just bought the 500 myself a few months ago.
take it you're more of a hardware guy than software guy?
i gotta be able to hit the drums rather than sequence em with mouse clicks..
been one helluva learning curve though.
i actually used fruity loops for 4 or 5 years prior to buying the mp. while i love it - i'll still occasionally make beats on there if they are multi-layered with lots of long samples - i prefer the tangibility and portability of the mpc. also, the compressor and eq on the MP sound mean, particularly on drums breaks i've chopped.
I had an opportunity to work with the Alexa camera (the new hot camera out here in the world of "HD replacing film") on the latest gig, "Seeking a Friend For the End of the World" - gonna be a really good movie out in december or early 2012 with Steve Carrell and Keira Knightly, truly one of the best scripts I've ever read. That's a dolly grip far left, then me f*cking with some cables, then Lorene Scafaria (writer/director of this movie and writer of Nick and Norah's), and camera operator Matt Petrosky.
