Default Lookin' at past greats: Earl Monroe.

Earl "The Pearl" Monroe is one of m favorite players. His moves were just nasty, for his time (for any time really.)

One thing I wanna know, why did this cat only make 4 All-Star games in his career? Also, how come he never made consecutive appearances in the mid-season classic (69, 71, 75, 77.)

Also, just one All-NBA team (it was a first team selection though.) He averaged over 20 ppg 6 times in his career. In the era he played in, their were lots of guards he competed with like; Clyde, Dave Bing, Pistol Pete, Tiny, Norm Van Lier, Calvin Murphy and Jo Jo White among others.

I remember a few lines from Kareem's autobiography about how amazing it was seeing this guy for the first time on the courts in NY. Black Jesus.

His spin move is a thing of beauty. I tried to build my game to be somewhat like his. He plays a very aesthetically pleasing brand of basketball.
Probably my favorite player ever.
