Denver could use some help on their O-Line.
So they take:
JD Walton from Baylor

Quote:
Summary: Walton is a very good center prospect with the top intangibles you want as a line general at the position. Despite being only 300 pounds, he should hold his own against 3-4 nose tackles because he stays low, is strong, and is very tough. He doesn't have the upside of a Maurkice Pouncey, but he should be a starter early in his career and come off the board in the third round.

The Giants fill their 2nd need at DT, who we have solely scrubs...

with Brian Price!, DT from UCLA

Quote:
# Strengths: Strong, thick, wide body
# Tremendous short area quickness
# Very quick first step
# Nice initial pop at the point of attack
# Explodes off snap
# Plays with high motor
# Great instincts - recognizes play quickly
# Gives solid second effort
# Tough
# Disciplined in gap control
# Penetrates and disrupts
# Active hands - doesn't let linemen get into his body
# Has a deadly club move
# Nice body control - can bend and drive past linemen
# Nice skill set and collegiate production

# Weaknesses:
# Frame is maxed out
# Gets engulfed against bigger linemen
# Can get overwhelmed and frustrated when run at
# Lacks great speed
# Lacks upside - a bit of an overachiever
# One-gap DT only in 4-3 schemes
# Short arms?

Default Re: *OFFICIAL* ISH 2010 NFL Mock Draft

Pats go with some offensive help with there second 2nd round pick and select

Damian Williams WR USC

Analysis

Release: Good initial quickness off the snap. Accelerates smoothly to eat up the cushion and has enough deep speed that corners have to respect his ability to go over the top. Good lateral agility and strong hands to defeat press coverage.

Hands: Soft, reliable hands. Extends and plucks the ball out of the air. Good body control. Can reach back and catch the pass behind him. Can track the ball over either shoulder. Competes for the jump ball, but isn't strong enough to effectively box out and beat the corner as consistently as scouts would like for a receiver of his listed size.

Route running: Among his better areas. Good, not great straight-line speed is made better due to his sudden acceleration. Sinks his hips and can plant and explode to change directions quickly. Very good slant, dig and post runner due to this burst. Potential to be a very good double-move route-runner. Wasn't asked to do this often enough at USC.

After the catch: Lacks the elite lateral agility to shake in tight quarters, but can make defenders miss with a quick-bounce-and-go. Accelerates quickly to pull away and gain yardage in chunks. Willing to go across the middle and is especially effective on slants and posts. Good vision. Good balance and strength to run through arm-tackles. Flashes an effective stiff-arm and spin to break free. Standout punt returner. Averaged 14.2 yards per return in 2009, returning two for scores (long of 66 yards).

Blocking: Provides a solid initial pop to the defender and works to sustain. Keeps his feet moving and looks to help out teammates downfield.

Intangibles: Originally signed with the University of Arkansas. Along with former Arkansas and USC teammate Mitch Mustain, founded a campus Bible study group "Generate USC." Underwent surgery on both shoulders after tearing a ligament in the spring of 2007. Missed half of the UCLA game (2008) due to a sprained shoulder.
2009 Season

Williams was an All-Pac-10 first team selection in 2009 as both a wide receiver and punt returner. He also won All-American third team honors and was USC's team MVP in 2009. He had 70 receptions for 1,010 yards with 6 touchdowns this past season and was sixth nationally in punt returns with a 14.2 average. His 2 scoring punt returns were 1 shy of the school season record set in 1952. He was the Emerald Bowl Offensive MVP following his 12-catch, 189-yard performance.

As a sophomore in 2008 in his first year as a starter, he caught 58 passes for 869 yards with 9 TDs. The native of Springdale, Ark., sat out the 2007 season at USC after transferring from Arkansas, where he had 19 catches for 235 yards and 2 scores as a part-time starter. He ranks 11th on USC's career receiving list with 128 receptions. He had 7 games in his Trojan career with 100-plus all-purpose yards.

with the 48th pick in the draft the Carolina Panthers select Geno Atkins, DT from Georgia...

Geno Atkins has been tearing up this NFL Draft preseason. After a strong Senior Bowl where he abused Mike Iupati, Atkins ran a 4.75 at 6-1, 293.

The San Fransico 49ers select:
Corey Wotton, DE, North Western
6-6, 270, 4.8 40

Quote:
Strengths:
Excellent size with a large frame and long arms --- Good athlete --- Nice range and mobility --- Terrific motor and pursues well --- Is strong and powerful --- Stout at the point of attack --- Excellent bull rusher --- A reliable tackler --- Disrupts passing lanes --- Is fluid and comfortable in space --- Smart with superb instincts and awareness --- Tough --- Hard Worker --- Leader --- Offers schematic versatility --- A lot of experience.

Weaknesses:
Average speed --- Not real quick or explosive and lacks a burst --- Isn't much of a pass rusher and repertoire of moves is limited --- Poor hand use --- Could stand to add some more weight --- Durability's a concern

He's a DE/DT hybrid player depending on the system. He seems like a good player with tons of potential for this kid. He'll play the end in the 3-4 system and will probably be a pass rushing tackle when they go dime and passing situations. He looks like a good pass rusher which the 49ers lack in the D-line. Won't start but will get PT and contribute to the team in many ways. He has potential and could bulk up another 15-20 pounds, gives the 49ers much more depth in the 3-4.

49ers added much depth in this draft so far. Williams and Haden will be day 1 starters and Wootton will possibly start as well.

With the 50th pick, the Kansas City Chiefs select Brandon Spikes, 6-3, 256 LB out of Florida.

Quote:
Spikes has elite size for the position and does a great job of delivering an absolutely devastating punch on contact. He knows how to fill run lanes and stack at the point of attack. He's a powerful wrap-up tackler who gets to the football in a hurry and consistently gets his man to the ground. Spikes is a team leader in every sense of the word. He's a motivated defender who plays every snap until the whistle, and he's a guy whose teammates seem to rally around him. He does a nice job reading his run/pass keys quickly and gets a good jump on the ball. Spikes showcases fluidity in his drop and knows how to read the quarterback's eyes and then to jump pass routes. At times, he has a tendency to freelance, and he will take himself out of plays at the line of scrimmage. But he does a good job rushing the passer from the outside and will line up as a nickel rusher on third down. He has a good first step but is still learning how to use his hands.

One of the best overall players available, second best inside linebacker, fills a need for the Chiefs, and brings some demeanor to that defense.

With the 51st pick the Texans select Brandon Ghee, CB from Wake Forest.

Quote:
Wake Forest CB Brandon Ghee (5-foot-11, 5/8, 191 pounds) is an explosive athlete, and his impressive workouts are catching the attention of teams. Ghee, who was a top performer for his position in the 40-yard dash, the broad jump, the three-cone drill, the short shuttle and the long shuttle, had another good performance at the Demon Deaconsí pro day.

He had a 10-foot, 2-inch broad jump and an incredible 3.98-second short shuttle. He kept the rest of his numbers from the combine.
A combine monster.

Texans are looking to replace Dunta Robinson at CB who left via free agency. RB and G are also positions of need but will be available in round 3. Texans start to build a very solid defense with Earl Thomas, Mario Williams, DeMeco Ryans, Brian Cushing, and Ghee.

with the 52nd pick in the draft the Steelers take Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama

Height: 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m) Weight: 192 lb (87 kg)

As a true freshman, Jackson started in 12 of 13 games for the Crimson Tide. He ranked second on the team with three interceptions on the season and was fourth with four pass breakups. Jackson recorded 66 tackles on the season, good for fifth-best on the team. He subsequently received Freshman All-American honors.

Jackson was eighth on the team in tackles with 44, including 28 solo stops, as a sophomore in 2008. He registered 10 pass breakups on the year with one interception.

On January 15, 2010, Jackson declared he would go into the NFL Draft.

with the 53rd pick in the draft the Patriots select Koa Misi, DE, from Utah

Height: 6-2⅝ | Weight: 251 | 40-Time: 4.73

Strengths:
Outstanding motor and gives excellent effort --- Very athletic --- Quick and agile with great balance --- Super explosive with a burst --- Terrific strength --- Uses his hands well --- Comfortable in space --- Appears to have fluid hips --- A hard worker --- Versatile --- Still has a lot of upside.

Weaknesses:
Just average size --- Questionable instincts --- Has trouble getting off blocks --- Not a great run defender --- Inconsistent --- Minor durability concerns --- Mediocre sack production --- May not have a true position.

Notes:
Full name is Nawa'akoa Lisiate Foti Analeseanoa Misi --- A three-year starter for the Utes --- Named 1st Team All-MWC in 2009 after earning 2nd Team honors the year before --- Transfer from Santa Rosa Junior College, where he spent one season --- Father, Sione, played football for Hawaii --- A bit of a 'tweener who could project to either defensive end in a 4-3 or outside linebacker in a 3-4 at the next level --- Saw action at both end and tackle in college and was also used standing up at times --- Missed some time with a back injury in 2009 --- Didn't rack up eye-popping statistics or necessarily make a lot of game-changing plays but is a very intriguing prospect due to his impressive physical tools --- Classic Workout Warrior who will likely be selected earlier than he should be by some team that becomes infatuated with his potential.

OK. Let's get this draft going since Marlo has gone MIA...

The Philadelphia Eagles select Ricky Sapp, Defensive End, University of Clemson.

Quote:
Outstanding athleticism --- A lanky frame with really long arms --- Fast and explosive with a burst --- Agile with great change of direction and balance --- A terror bending off the edge --- Excellent range --- Does a terrific job in pursuit and closes in a hurry --- Uses his hands well --- A reliable tackler and powerful hitter --- Smooth with fluid hips and is comfortable in space --- Offers both positional and schematic versatility.

The draft is kinda screwed w/ the McNabb trade

PLAYMAKER/BALL HAWK

The Cowboys did a good job plucking Mike Jenkins from USF a couple years ago, and they hope to strike it rich again. Allen is a playmaker in the secondary, but isnít afraid to get physical either. Shoring up the FS spot for the Cowboys has to be one of their primary concerns at this point.

can still be taken in the 2nd round...

if that happens this draft would be a dream come true for me...
