Mark Jackson canceled his Philly interview, said "it doesn't feel right." This is a guy that's been bitching for a couple years about not getting an opportunity, despite never coaching a day in his life, and now he's getting picky about interviews?

Philly.com

The source indicated that Collins, currently a TNT analyst, has emerged as the front-runner, but that management wants to be as thorough as possible in deciding on a successor to the fired Eddie Jordan. The source also mentioned that Portland Trail Blazers assistant Monty Williams remains a wild-card possibility.

Collins, who has previously coached the Bulls, Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards, has not been active in the profession since 2003. A four-time All-Star guard, he spent his entire playing career with the Sixers. He was interested in the Sixers' coaching job last year, but was not granted an interview. He has indicated that if he returns to coaching, he would prefer it be with the 76ers.

In the course of their search, the Sixers have also met with Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Bill Laimbeer, Houston Rockets assistant Elston Turner and Phoenix Suns assistant Dan Majerle. Turner was the most recent candidate to be interviewed, having come to Philadelphia on Friday.

I think Doug Collins has a great basketball mind, but in terms of raw coaching ability, he's a dud.

No matter who they draft, no matter what moves they make in an attempt to improve the overall roster, etc. - Doug Collins is not 'the guy' to get them back into the playoffs. Great commentator, mediocre coach.

I think Collins is a temporary solution. He can come in and teach our young guys. Have him for 3 or 4 years while he develops our young talent and then get a more permanent coach after that.

Quin Snyder's joining the staff in a "player development capacity." That's an outstanding hire. He was D-League COY and his team, San Antonio's affiliate The Toros, has sent around a dozen guys up the to big league. Wish Indy'd snagged him.

Never heard about him, so your input is very appreciated. Hope he can get something done along with Collins.

He's the Duke alum that used to coach Missouri and left there is a bit of scandal. I can't remember anything ever being proven but he was always looked at as kind of a Calipari-esque huckster. The man can coach his ass off though, he's done very well everywhere he's been and he's still only in his early 40s. Here's the link.

Wouldn't want him coaching my college team, but he's very well suited for the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised at all that he gets plucked by another team or even takes over for Collins after a few years.

Quin Snyder - Was Coach K's assistant at Duke from '95-'97 and head assistant at Duke from '97-'99. Served as Missouri head coach from '99-'06. Spent the last 2 seasons in the NBDL, coaching one team to the finals and winning COY in another.
