Bobcats Look To Start Winning Streak
The Bobcats will try to build some early momentum and look for their first winning streak of 2006-07 as they prepare to tip off at 7:30 p.m. in Boston on Wednesday. You can catch all the action on News 14 or tune in to Mix 106.1 FM as Charlotte goes for its second win.
The Bobcats are coming off a 92-88 win over LeBron James and the Cavaliers on Saturday at Charlotte Bobcats Arena and marked the franchise’s first win over Cleveland in eight attempts. Now Charlotte will try to notch its first victory at TD Banknorth Garden, where they have posted an 0-4 record the last two seasons.
In order for the Bobcats to come away with their first road win, they will look to the hot hand of rookie Adam Morrison. He has shown why he was the third overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft, leading the team in scoring with 16.0 points, while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from three-point range.
Morrison became the first Bobcats player to reach double figures in his first three games as a pro, netting 14 points in the opener against Indiana, a career-high 21 points in Memphis and 13 more in the win over Cleveland.
Charlotte’s backcourt tandem has also impressed, with Brevin Knight averaging 14.3 points and 7.0 assists and Raymond Felton averaging 14.3 with 5.0 assists.
Up front, Emeka Okafor has been a presence inside, averaging 13.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and an NBA-leading 4.33 blocks. With veteran center Primoz Brezec still sidelined with exhaustion, Sean May has stepped up his game as well, averaging 11.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.00 blocks.
The Bobcats finished 1-2 against Boston last season with Gerald Wallace leading the way with an average of 20.7 points.
Charlotte will look to take advantage of the Celtics slow start in 2006-07, as Boston has struggled to find its first victory and post an 0-3 record.
Paul Pierce leads the Celtics with 24.7 points, followed by Wally Szczerbiak with 24.0 points.
