Just a night to sit and watch; Playoff seeding
After a big win against possibly the toughest team we will see for the rest of the regular season, aside from Dallas, this gives us a night to just sit and watch Oklahoma City and Portland play in the same night. As it stands right now:
6. Oklahoma City 49 - 30 7.0
7. San Antonio 49 - 31 7.5
8. Portland 48 - 31 8.0
Portland plays a game on the road against the Lakers today on ABC which will tipoff at 3:30PM EST while OKC will visit the Warriors at Golden State.
As Spurs fans, a loss for both Portland and Oklahoma City would do us good to move up to the 6th seed after being at the 8th spot as early as last night. Loses for both Portland and OKC would make it:
6. San Antonio 49 - 31
7. Oklahoma City 49 - 31
8. Portland 48 - 32
But a Portland win and a OKC loss would make it a three way tie in Portland's favor:
6. Portland 49 - 31
7. San Antonio 49 - 31
8. Oklahoma City 49 - 31
The most possible scenario to happen as I see it would be an OKC win and a Portland loss, leaving the standings as they are now but with a 1 game difference between each team:
6. Oklahoma City 50 - 30
7. San Antonio 49 - 31
8. Portland 48 - 32
But if both teams can pull out victories tonight (the worst possible result for Spurs fans), it would leave us at the 8th seed.
6. Oklahoma City 50 - 30
7. Portland 49 - 31
8. San Antonio 49 - 31
Any of these scenarios are possible to happen, but we will have to wait and see.
