Re: Trade Ellis This Offseason?
The big question is...what is Monta worth? Most GMs may not think Ellis is worth $11M a year based on his overall game and history of injury. You put Quincy Douby into this offense and give him free reign to jack up 22 shots a game and he could average 24 points a game. Is it Monta or the lack of offensive gameplan from Nellie? Well, Reggie Williams and Tolliver has proved that its the system. Morrow can even score 37 points in a game for this team. GMs know this and would be weary of what Ellis can bring in a more complex offensive scheme. He won't be able to play for a coach like Sloan who needs brains more than he needs athletes.
If Monta can fetch them back a lottery pick, then I'd do it. This draft isn't deep at all and a team may gamble on Ellis rather than draft a bench player.
