Default Recommend me a cheap but effective shoe

For the past 8 years, I've been spending my money on incredibly expensive shoes (jordans, iversons, etc). They are nice but the problem is they all wear down too fast. So i just want a cheap (50-80 price range), comfortable, and light shoe. Also, I prefer shoes that support the ankle so high tops and medium tops are fine. I've been looking at the Adida pro models. Are these shoes any good for basketball?

The Nike Kevin Durants are nice but too expensive for the cheap looks.

Do you like guard shoes or forward shoes?

Eastbay and Amazon has Creators, Commanders, and Lightspeeds in several colors and variations,i.e. supernatural, lightning, for under $80.

I wore Jordans for years and then switched to creators about two years ago and they are superior to anything Nike puts out. If you play on some floors that are dusty the adidas will grip alot better than the nikes, you will still notice a difference if the floors are good too.

I need guard shoes. I play all on speed, quickness, and agility. Which shoe would you recommend that fits those characteristics?

Sounds similar to me, 5'9" 155#, I play in the lightning creator from last. I haven't had to buy a pair for a while since I can't play until August, rehabbing ACL surgery. I like the regular creators and lightspeeds alittle better than the lightning or supernatural to play in, although the SN and Lightning look alittle better. I would just get the one that they have in your size for the best price and colorway.

If you're willing to spend 20 more than what you're planning to, get a pair of Supernatural Creators. They're $99 and they are worth every centavo (penny*) I paid for. They are truly the best basketball shoes I've ever used. Lightweight (like Hyperdunk light) but they do not sacrifice anything in support or cushioning. The ankle cushioning in fact is something they were VERY generous with for this shoe. It's shroud and strap design ensures a snug, secure fit without being constricting. You might be thinking right now that "Oh, if it has a shroud, then it will definitely be hot". Well, sure, its design will be giving up a bit on breathability, but not so much that it will be a problem. People on SC that I also talk to about Adidas kicks agree that breathability isn't a problem. Now, the main thing I love about the shoe is its sole.

If you look at it, it looks a bit funky, no? Well, it being a weird sole doesn't go without a purpose. It is a very grippy shoe (and I play in outdoor courts all the time and yes, they're dusty) and those pods you see actually aid your movement. They hug the floor so acts like changing pace and changing direction are so much easier. Notice the one on the heel is a bit more on the inside of the foot. Well, that's because this shoe is built for guards who do a lot of slashing and cutting to the basket. Now, I play F/C on my HS varsity team, but I just LOVE how they feel. Great pick-up and you definitely won't regret it.

Thanks for the input NotYetGreat. I'm not really a big fan of the design. Right now I'm deciding between KD2 and hyperdunk lows (50 bux is a steal).

http://www.finishline.com/store/prod...tId=prod654818

From the reviews i read, the hyperdunk lows are basically like the kobe V performance wise. The only thing I'm scared about is that they are lows. I've seen many say that lows are bad for ankle support and many say it's just a myth and that the structure of the shoe is what determines how good of an ankle support it has. Also, Deron Williams and Nash both use hyperdunk lows so they should be pretty good performance wise. Any of you guys actually use the hyperdunk lows? What did you think of them?

I had the pro model fusions. I got it for just $50 and they were real light and comfortable.

I use the Kobe V's. Obviously not the same shoe but a low as well. Ankle support is great and I haven't rolled, twisted or hurt my ankle in the 3 months I've been playing in them and that's with me cutting, twisting and changing direction a lot as a small forward and also stepping on people's feet and being stepped on.
