I know Dirk isn't choking. My point is you can't blame the rest of the team. Should we blame Dallas the game 2 loss on Dirk because he didn't have a good shooting night? Didn't think so.

Actually, yes you can blame Dirk for Game 2.

And you can blame Kidd/Marion/Butler tonight for the Mavs. They were putrid.

Duncan is consistent while Dirk is wildly the opposite. Dirk plays the opposite of good defense. It isn't any wonder why they tend to lose in the play offs while the Spurs have 4 titles.

Dirk is wildly the opposite? So he's wildly inconsistent? Ya, ok. Dirk made some key defensive stops during the 17-0 run in the 3rd quarter and scored 16 points in that quarter. He's the reason why the Mavs even had a chance this game.

Dirk=bad defense-not that he doesn't put in solid effort
Duncan=great solid defense

Dirk can shoot 12/14 or he will put up bad clanking fadeaway performances like game 2. Duncan is good for atleast 20/10 on high percentage every night. That's what the guy was trying to say

Lets look at the facts here

. He doesn't play good defense
. Weak on the boards
. Inconsistent shooter this play off series and every play off series. He started out red hot and went to ice cold while this game shooting mediocre.

I guess in the end it's the Mavs taking contested jump shots while the Spurs are attacking the basket/ playing defense.

Kidd/ Dirk equals one of the worst defensive combos in the history of the NBA

Yep. Read my mind. I'm a big fan of players who can go out every night and put up 20/ 10 like Duncan or always get 10 assists like Nash while shooting well. Dirk can be on fire or ice cold and he is notorious for choking in the play offs.

Couldn't watch the game, why'd Butler only play 15 minutes?

Had a bad night, so Carlisle banched him in the 2nd half.

your telling me you wouldn't prefer

8-13
13-24
15-23

AND

Play defense?

Sure he shoots well overall but when he is cold or mediocre they end up losing.

You mean like Duncan last year against the Mavs:

Game 2: 13 points/10 rebounds
Game 3: 4 points/2 rebounds

So he had a bad series. Your still comparing a historically consistent fundamental player to the crap style European jack up bad shots and pray style of Dirk.

You said Dirk was wildly inconsisent. Big difference. Duncan is on most nights going to have a high FG%.

That is because they aren't the same type of player on offense.

But to say Dirk is "inconsistent" is a misguided statement. If he is thought of as insonsistent, then 99% of NBA players past and present are "inconsistent."

Huh? You were the one comparing them. And while Dirk shoots his share of difficult shots (like most stars have to do)... they are rarely "bad" shots. He is one of the most judicious shot selective superstars in the game.

He rarely takes bad shots.
