Yep they need an upgrade at the point. Don't even really need a scorer either. They need someone who can run the team and play decent defense on the other teams pg. A guy like Gortat would be perfect. They don't need a scorer at center, but a big body who can get a couple blocks, rebound and at least have length to fill the middle.

Yes, you do because not only is this team maxed out.... They're capped out. Even if they don't re-sign Joe Johnson they're capped out. Nobody wants Mike Bibby. Who wants to pay for an aging PG that presents almost no strengths now?

What changes can you make? They can't get a good center. There are no good centers to get. They got no money to improve the bench so how do you get help there? How do they get a good PG? Teams aren't going to offer a really good PG for Joe Johnson is a S&T when they know the Hawks are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They don't have the depth that they can afford to trade Jamal Crawford?

If you move Al to the 4 than you have the terrible shooting Josh Smith at SF and he can't do anything on defense but shot block or get steals. His position defense sucks.

Do you remember that team Memphis had with Pau Gasol? That 50 win team that was torn apart because they couldn't get any further? That's the Hawks. What good is 50 wins when you suck in the playoffs? Remember, they just barely got by a team missing their 2 best players. Moreover, the Hawks won 53 games while having the most healthy team in the league. You think they still win 50 games if they have any sorts of real health problems? With their lack of depth, that isn't likely.

That's what I was thinking.

They're too good to completely start rebuilding from the ground up (imo),

Just dump some and add to it. You have a good thing, just needs to get better.

The Magic are looking dangerous, they ended the season on a good streak and after an inconsistent, injury-plagued season where they were finding chemistry, they're hitting their stride at the perfect time. They kind of remind me of the 2001 Lakers in that regard. Except that team was a 2 man show who happened to have the best player in the league at center and Kobe at SG who was the 2nd best player, behind only Shaq, in the playoffs. However, now Howard and Carter are starting to click, Nelson has emerged and is really playing at an all-star level and Lewis has fit comfortably into the 4th option role despite being a 2-time all-star.

You call their performance against the Bucks good? They barely got by a team missing it's 2 best players and they barely beat a one horse Miami team in 7 games last year. It's very likely they will get swept in the 2nd round for the 2nd year in a row.

What that mans is that they're really not that good.

That makes no sense. Birdman certainly has done well as a big off the bench.

Gortat could certainly be productive off the bench. There are 48 minutes at the 4 and 48 at the 5. He could get plenty of minutes for the Hawks.

Well looking at what you just said, if no one wants their players then you can't blow the team up. So you use free agency to get some vet help at center and the draft to get a young pg to groom or center to groom. Memphis is the West and blew up that team knowing it didn't have a chance due to the relative youth of the good teams out west. Outside of Orlando and maybe Cleveland that isn't the case in the East. Boston is not going to be around long with such an aging team, who knows what Miami will do, the Bucks are a toss up as are the Bulls and Charlotte is as well. Why completely dismantle your team in that situation?

Birdman is an energy player. He also isn't a 7 footer.

Nah I meant good overall.

There is no reason that series with Milwaukee should've went to 7 games, I honestly thought that was going to be a sweep.

They have tons of regular season success, but during the playoffs things seem to fall apart....

WTF being 7 feet have to do with anything? He is a defensive/rebounding specialist, just like Gortat.
