A 5.3 percent chance of earning the right to draft Kentucky point guard John Wall, a stroke of luck that would spin the franchise to safety from its current ledge.
Without a fortuitous bounce, the Sixers will remain a mismatched roster with no coach, a franchise run by a general manager without ownership's backing, a team that continues to be one of the NBA's least desirable locations for free agents.
If odds hold true, the Sixers will have the No. 6 selection June 24, date of the 2010 draft. It would be the team's highest draft position since it selected Keith Van Horn with the No. 2 pick in 1997.
If odds break against them, the Sixers can drop to No. 7 or 8 - even No. 9, if things bounce remarkably unpredictably.
Essentially, the Sixers are like a gambler who has hit bottom. Either the final bet with their final dollar - a flier taken on the roulette wheel while shuffling out of the casino - will miraculously resurrect them, or they'll be forced to do it the old-fashioned way: through a decent draft pick, trades, maneuvering, good coaching, some game-planning, and of course, hard work.
And it will take years.
Come June 24, the Sixers must draft one of two positions: shooting guard or center.

Yeah, most of this forum was hoping for Maynor, and looking back that would've probably been a poor selection.
However, I didn't expect Lawson being available at our draft spot, and cursed when we didn't pick him. Lawson played damn fine his rookie season, so you could say he would've been a nice pick. Jrue has turned fine though, and I'm happy with him.
I'm ready for Tues so we can finally get the ball rolling and find out what prospects will be in our range. I really don't believe we're in a position to go any other route than best player available regardless of position. I'd love to get a top 3 pick, but I'm really just hoping we stay in the top 6 somewhere. The draft falls really hard after the first half of the lottery.
As of now, Maynor hasn't gotten as much exposure neither in Utah nor in OKC, and in either case he got minutes as the main backup -of star PGs though-. And he does look pretty decent when he is on the floor (although I haven't watched him but a couple of times), but I expected a little more.
I wasn't really enthusiastic about drafting Jrue, but right now he looks like he could develop into an interesting player.
I've had a man crush on him all year. I'm not going to bluff and say I would take him over Wall had we got the #1 but this is a future all star consolation prize. Remember they were comparing Rose/Beasley to the Kidd/Hill draft? This is the real comparison right here. Bilas and a lot of the NBA forum guys have compared Turner to Brandon Roy, I've always seen Grant Hill in his game. And this guy's a great character guy. Go listen to an interview on youtube the guy is Steve Erkel. Straight geek and I love it.
First time in years I've been excited about our future. Holiday + Turner...wow I'm ready.
Something that Stefanski said that stood out. When the reporter led him in about Wall being the #1 pick he said "well for sure Wall and Turner are special talents and then we'll have to see what kind of options arise". Which pretty much sounds like Turner is the head man and those "options" would be some kind of trade they couldn't pass up.
I don't know I could see us going with Cousins. Turner is a really similar type of player to Iggy except Turner is more of a natural playmaker. Speights has been a lazy POS, Brand is old, and Dalembert is Dalembert. Cousins would give us a key centerpiece at center to pair with Holiday.
Not that I would be mad with Turner tho. Dude is a baller and I loved watching him at OSU.
