Default Eastern Conference Coaches

Is this the weakest group of the last 30 years?

The last four coaches standing were Stan Van Gundy, Doc Rivers, Mike Brown and Mike Woodson.

Not one guy I'd call a "good" coach.

Beyond that guys like Vinnie Del Negro, Jim O'Brein and Eddie Jordan as well as Eric Spulstra and Jay Treino (who's names I can't even spell)

Is Scott Skiles the best coach in the East?

Second best behind Larry Brown.

I don't know if this is the weakest group ever. Last years group wasn't that different from this years group.

Eddie Jordan had a terrible run in Philly, but he wasn't that bad in his time in Washington (didnt he win Coach of the year? and deserved, unlike Mike Brown)

Skiles and Brown are the only really great coaches in the EC.
Woodson, Doc, SVG are a level below the two named above.
Then there's Brown, D'Antoni (Jordan and Saunders maybe..)..
the rest is bad.

Forgot about Pound for pound.

I think Woodson and Doc are BAD coaches. Their teams win in spite of them.

Brown seems overwhelmed and probably bad too.

Van Gundy is an avearge to good coach, but I don't think star players respect him at all (Wade, O'Neal, Howard have all openly questioned him)

Jordan is such a re-tred though, just like O'Brien, each had one good playoff with a talented roster in a down confernce.

SVG is a good coach, Doc is a decent coach, the other two suck.

edit: SVG gets into issues with his star players because he's much more confrontational with his star players then most coaches would be. Most are afraid to call them out. Howard definitely respects him, as does Wade. Shaq is an ass who disrespects everyone, so tbh who cares about what he thinks.

Come on SVG is a very good coach, the way he built his team is no fluke.

Doc also does pretty good...

Doc and SvG are good. Thumb face and Woodson are garbage.

Doc and SVG are the only two who stand out for me. What SVG did in Orlando with his cast of players is spectacular, and they have the potential to contend for a few more years still. Doc has moments where I wonder WTF he's doing, but overall I have confidence in him.

Although Rivers proved me wrong by winning in 2008, I still think he does more bad than good.

I really don't like Van Gundy and that probably clouds my judgment on him, but even I concede he is better than Woodson, Brown and Rivers.

Yeah, what has Larry Brown ever done to suggest he's a good coach. Stan Van Gundy is way better.

The worst coach in the East is Erik Spoelstra.

Mike Woodson is hands down the worst coach in the NBA, maybe the worst coach the league has ever seen. I mean, he has said multiple times that he does not coach offense because it just comes naturally. He is also a terrible defensive coach, and a one of the worst motivators/players coaches in the league.

When did you start watching NBA? Doc was COY when he almost led lottery team to the playoffs, and as soon as he got quality team, instantly won (of course Big3 was primary reason, but Doc's Ubuntu and tactics worked too). Also Doc outcoached Phil Jackson in '08, so if Doc is bad, what do you say about Phil?
