I think he could be a good fit for the Mavs.

IMO he would help them (Mavs) out more than the Pistons with his passing skills.

I'm sorry I know everyone else has agreed and likes the idea of Webber coming to Dallas but I have to totally 100% dissagree with this. Yes, he would bring some positive skills to the table but I think he is too old and will be completely dominated in our Western Conference and aside from this, there still are some other free agents out there that could be worth looking at such as Joe Smith, Chris Mihm and P.J. Brown. I also like the idea of putting in and playing Pops M. Bonsu, Ager, Fazekas and especially Brandon Bass. Has anyone been watching the Summer League and if so have you noticed that Brandon Bass is completely manhandling everyone. Also ,for the love of god, since we couldn't get our hands on Gerald Wallace why aren't we trying to go for Mo Williams who is more of a true point guard and the next best free agent out there. Steve "Frachise Killer" coming to Dallas, I sure as hell hope not. Why would we go with two older guys who are obviously past their prime and put them on an already extremely young and talented team when we have the ability to groom some young up and comers, give them some much needed nba playing experience, I'm sure we would still win a majority of our games.

I think a lot of the attitude is that we are too close and need to do whatever minor tweaks are necessary to win next year. I love pops and barea, not a big fan of ager, but they aren't ready. After watching an interview with Cuban where he said he almost sold the team last summer, I would suspect that after last season its now or never time. Another advantage you have with these two guys, they already made their money they are looking for a ring, which means we can afford them, both of them. And this is just following the most recent model for a championship by the lakers, spurs, and miami over the last several years. Pick up older guys, who used to be great, for little money because all they want is a ring.

If Webber can be had for the veteran minimum, then go for it. Much more than that is too much.

I agree with that. This season we learned that Dirk wasn't the leader we hoped he was. When you don't have a leader then you need a team of veterans. I wouldn't offer the guy a boat load of cash, but he'd be a good addition.

If the Mavs landed Webber, would Diop be available for trade? As a Bobcats fan, could some combo (not all) of Morrison, May, Brezec, Dudley, draft picks land the big man from Senegal in Charlotte?

I wouldn't mind getting May at all. There were people talking last night now might be the best time to trade Diop while his value is still good. And before it's time to pay him next summer.

Ya, May is definately on the trading block. Diop would definately start at center in Charlotte and his lack of offense ability isn't that big of a turn off since we have Okafor down low. They would also be a monster shot blocking duo.

The only problem I would have from the Charlotte side is that he only has 1 year left on his contract, but May does too (+ 1 more year team option). It just wouldn't end up well if the 'Cats got him for just a year and couldn't re-sign him.
