Bosh is an all star in this third year.

Dirk was an all star in this fourth year. (2002)

they do pay him 4.2, the extension goes into effect after next season

Lebron is probably the only player on a rookie deal who can afford to turn down the extension. He already makes more money per year than a max deal is worth.

For Bosh the financial security is a much bigger deal.

You gotta love Nike. They've just completely desanctified NBA free agency, with one contract. They are now actually more powerful than the NBA itself. They can actually make top NBA players go to the team of their choice. That is DOPE. To have that kind of power. Imagine if somebody was absurdly rich. And bought 51% of Nike and 51% of the Wizards. And made all the sneaker contracts worth 50 million, with a 50 million bonus for every year they play in Washington. Bingo- orchistration of a dynasty. It doesn't have to be one person doing this just one cohesive body. A buncha rich guys shaking hands, and the CBA is null and void and small market teams can just forget about it.

...just rambling...

I don't think you could get your hands on 51% of Nike, even with unlimited money. Even if you could, the current market cap is 21 billion, and rumors that somebody was trying to buy all of it would push the share price even higher. I'm sure it would take 20 billion to buy 51%. Only a few people in the world have that much money. Could this be why Gates retired?
