Well Jeff Van Gundy made a great point during the last game. If he gets his jersey retired, so does Horry, so does Scott, so do others... So I think no.

they should have one jersey with all the great supporting player retire number on it, example player like rambis, ac green, cooper, b scott, horry, fisher and others.

I like this idea. That franchise has so many players that many so much to the team but do not deserve to have their number taken out of circulation. Pick a number (perhaps number 1 for symbolic reasons, not sure if it is already retired or not) and put all those players names on it as a tribute to those who gave great things to the franchise but don't rank up there with Kobe, West, Kareem, Magic, etc.

The Pistons did something similar a few seasons ago and every 10 or 15 home games, they would paint a name on the court to show respect to someone who contributed a lot to the team. It's an excellent way to honor those who were not greats but certainly deserve to be honored in some way.

Yeah. He's been really good for the team in tight "sitchi asians", but there has to be a line to separate the greats from the good.

The Lakers are the greatest franchise with the greatest players ever. Any other franchise wouldn't even have to think about retiring Fisher's jersey (4 time champion).

So let me get this straight, The Miami heat can retire the jersey of a player who didn't even play for them yet the Lakers retiring Fisher's jersey is retarded?
The same player who's been in the league for 13 years and spent 12 of them with your franchise. The same player who's been a big part of all your championship teams. The same player who's hit multiple big shots in playoff series that could have gone the other way.

But you're telling me to discuss if he merits even consideration to have his Jersey retired as a Laker makes this thread less intelligent? Do you value anyone on your team? Look at his clutch shots against Orlando last year, he's been doing that for nearly every year he's been a part of your franchise and you say it's retarded to even think about putting his jersey about the court?

There's few players who will consistently do the things fisher does when it matters most put their body on the line to draw a charge, hit big shots, not be afraid to not give it up to the star player. He brings you leadership, toughness and heart things that are rare these days.

I'm not saying it should be retired but to hear that kind of response shows me how much you take players for granted since your franchise has been blessed with so many great players.

I know he's not up there with the Magic's the Kareem's the Shaq's and the Kobe's but you think it's just right to let someone who's been such a big part of your franchise to become a memory.

I think that would definitely be a great idea.
