Default The greatest/most competitive "Twin Towers" in the NBA history?

Which are the greatest/most competitive "Twin Towers" in the NBA history?

Speaking of the best twin towers, I can only think of three:

1. Wilt Chamberlain + Nate Thurmond

2. Ralph Sampson + Hakeem Olajuwon

3. David Robinson + Tim Duncan

Let the discussion begins, shall we?

I thought Thurmond barely played When Wilt was around? Probably Duncan Robinson.

Bynum and Pau Gasol. Greatest frontcourt combination in the history of the game.

Yes, Thurmond was Wilt's backup in his first season, sometimes played as twin towers as well but quite limited... the next season Wilt got that heart problem and was traded to Phila in the middle of the season...

But the twin towers like Wilt+Thurmond is indeed, IMHO, the most competitive twin towers in the NBA history, had wilt not be traded, they probably could show up in the finals more than they did, and probably could win some titles together and become the greatest twin towers of all time.

Sampson+Olajuwon is amazing... they could kick Duncan Robinson's a$$

Apparently, the greatest twin tower combo (Wilt and young Thurmond) was 11-33, the worst team in the league at the time, before the Warriors decided to trade Wilt and go with young Thurmond (cheaper) as their center. That sound like the greatest twin tower duo to you?

1. Duncan and Robinson
2. Hakeem and Sampson
3. Parish and McHale

edit: forgot about mchale/parish

Gasol - most skilled and arguably bigman in the game

Bynum - 3rd best center in the game today.

They are not even as good as Parish/McHale, much less the D-Rob/Duncan or Hakeem/Sampson.

Ease up.

Although under-sized in terms of actual Tower size, the DPOY Ben Wallace + Rasheed deserves a mention because there defensive intensity was just as competitive as any of the other Twin Towers mentioned.

Twin Towers indicates that both players are tall players (like 7 ft+), so while both Wallace's have formed a good front court, they're definitely not twin towers.

I am not nominating them, but do not forget Ewing & Cartwright.

Oh..please, Thurmond was a rookie by then, and most of time as Wilt's back up, don't forget that Wilt was ill... the truth is Wilt is most powerful offensive player and Thurmond is arguably the 2nd best defender of all time in NBA history, had they work together a few years, it could be best twin towers.
