Default My take on the BCS

If and when USC wins out, they are in the title game without question. They've got UCLA, Cal and Notre Dame left to play. Beating these teams will fatten up their ranking. Also take into account them squashing Arkansas at the beginning of the year on the road. The more Arkansas wins down the stretch, the more value it will add to USC's win over them.

I have no problem seeing Ohio State/Michigan play each other again in the championship game (if USC loses again)

Rutgers does not deserve a chance to play in the title game if they finish undefeated. However, they are going to lose to West Virginia regardless. The Mountaineers will hand it to them in a couple of weeks. Rutgers is pretty much the George Mason of college football right now and like George Mason, they're cinderella run will come to end when they go up against WV.

What if UF wins the SEC without losing again? Surely they'd get considered by the BCS.

I agree man. I am a big USC fan. When they beat Cal, UCLA, Notre Dame. Which they will. They will be in the Championship game. Its gonna be a great game Ohio State Vs Michigan State. But USC is a powerhouse they have a good chance every year.

i'm not sure but even if they win out, i think their strength of scedule will hinder them in the end, same with notre dame if they were to win out, playing games like army and such really hurts them...it's the same as usc a couple years ago, because the pack 10 was lousy that year they didn't get an invite to the national championship game... there was a good website that had all the various ways it could work out and why, i'll see if i can find it and post it here....

1. I don't think Florida is that good, they won't run the table

2. USC can very easily lose a game

3. Rutgers can play with West Virginia, they are for real, believe it...

4. If USC and UF lose, I hope Arkansas gets a shot, they deserve it, seriously...

Explain this. USC wins out

OSU and Michigan play. OSU wins by 1.

How do you justify Michigan shouldnt be in the national title game based on 1 loss by 1pt to the #1 ranked team in the nation vs USC losing to an unranked team.

What if Florida wins out and wins the SEC. How is USC more justified than Florida?

What if Notre Dame wins out and Michigan gets thrashed by OSU Saturday. Why are they not a national title contender.

This is why a playoff system is needed.

Rutgers doesnt deserve to be in it but if they beat WVU and go undefeated people will ask how can an undefeated team not get a shot when other teams have lost. If USC, Florida, Dame lose again and Rutgers wins out while Michigan gets blasted by OSU...you're gonna have to answer why Rutgers cant play in the national title game. Because even with this scenerio many dont think Rutgers is still worthy.

if you are not undefeated and there is an undefeated team left in a major conference, you dont deserve to be in the title game.

anyone who thinks the USC win over Arkansas is truely important DOES NOT PAY ATTENTION. I'm not even going to explain it for the lazy asses here, you can go look it up.

the Pac 10, Big 10, Big 12, ACC AND YES the all mighty SEC are ALL overrated and are all living off past glory.

if Rutgers wins out, they deserve to be in. tough titty for the whiney asses whose teams have already lost.

Strength of schedule...notre dame played too many soft teams...

I'm 100% percent in agreement, the only good thing about the BCS system now is that every single game has meaning, they all count for something, if you have a playoff system the days of teams going unbeaten would/could/might? disappear forever

Good Question, here's another, i wonder why it is we can route for a small program to win it all in NCAA basketball, but when it's football umless it's some perenial powerhouse everyone gets squimish

actually thats not true. every game counts ONLY if you start the season ranked. if you dont start the year ranked you are screwed from the get go.
