Big men are definitely more deep in this draft as compared to the 2000s one, at the top anyways. MJ is just such a clear overall #1, but I suppose Shaq was pretty clear in the other draft
Big men are deep but perimeter talent especially scoring wise at SF/SG after MJ is weak. 80s had a pretty good mix of both (80s draft would be ridiculous with KAJ, Magic, Bird, MJ, Hakeem, Moses ).
You guys are selling Hakeem short. In '95 playoffs he put together a run that was maybe the most impressive ever. There wasn't much separation between a peak MJ and what Hakeem was doing in those playoffs.

Yeah the 80's were definitely more spread out with the talent. That'd be a fun draft that might require a bit more research.
I can agree with you about Olajuwon (I do have him lol), but the fact is that no one for the majority of the decade could beat MJ in a long series. It'll be interesting to see some of the picks and arguments used to counter him though. Hakeem was a beast and unbelievably consistent his entire career, no doubt. One of the best 2 way playing centers ever
Edit: I'll go with 1992-93 by the way. Numbers weren't at his career max, but 26 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists with the 4+ blocks and close to 2 steals is unmatched still. Numbers were a bit better this season than the next season when he won his 1st title and the MVP.
are we being judged by the teams that we build or is this an arms race style where the more talented players reguardless of how they would mesh is the winner?

Based on teams. How they matchup against rest of the league, how well they fit together and so on. Too much talent is not going to work if you don't have the defensive stopper, the role players to rebound/defend, the playmaker, the coaching system etc.
lets get some pics of your draft picks...come on now.

1990 Ewing = when he became a man. The chronic tendinitis really affected his knees for most of the 90s but he was a beast in those playoffs. Was noticeably quicker and more explosive than in '92-'95.
This is '90 Ewing btw, hard to find pics of him from that year for some reason though. They still had the NY on the shorts instead of the Knicks logo back then.
